One time I got to design a poster for Peter Murphy and not only am I a looooongtime fan, but it gave me the chance to do a black-on-black poster. Black paper, black ink.

RE: tools, when I was younger I heard a story about kids in South America. They all wanted to be football (soccer) stars, but footballs aren't cheap. So they'd get a can of tennis balls and get so good handling the much smaller balls that when they got a football they'd dominate.
