The idea that "incumbents everywhere are losing" is just ... not true. It's not just Mexico: in Taiwan, Greece, Croatia, and others, incumbents were re-elected or increased their vote share. Pushing the idea that it was inevitable only serves to shield the party and campaign from justifiable blame.
