Surprise, surprise, members of the GOP don’t want to meet their constituents in person. I wonder what they’re scared of.

Bernie has an accurate take on this moment. “Trumpism will not be defeated by politicians inside the DC beltway. It will only be defeated by millions of Americans, in every state in this country, coming together in a strong, grassroots movement…”

The Trump administration's goal isn't to help Higher Education but to control it. Full stop. If we don't push back, we'll find every course, topic, research project, etc. subjected to oversight or direct control.

“Civil society in the U.S. has more than enough strength, independence, organization, and financing to meet the moment. The only question is whether it has the will.”

There’s a real chance that we staring down a new pandemic in the form of bird flu. It could never happen or happen in the coming months. And we are in the process of decimating our core national public health and infectious disease service.

Yes and it’s disappointing. Despite the warnings they were undone by a massive misinformation campaign, lies from the GOP, and a general desire on the part of some to see other people punished or hurt (but not they themselves).

This article “is a playbook of sorts — a top-level strategy paired with specific tactics that politicians, activists, and even ordinary citizens can start employing today.” It’s hard not to despair these days. But we also have to respond. This article is a great starting point

There’s clearly not a serious interest in governing. Instead the sole qualification to be in Trump’s cabinet seems to be a willingness to destroy the institution you’ve been out in charge of. Pathetic!

Up next will be Adams performing an updated Stepin Fetchit routine while extolling the virtues of mass deportations.

Here’s the problem: You don’t run rampant like Musk and his cronies are doing if you’re planning on obeying the courts. I’m guessing their plan is to ignore them and then see if “enforcement” is even possible.

Note to average folks: By the time you hear about some investment opportunity in a Trump business it’s already too late. He and his cronies will have already siphoned off whatever profits are available. You’d be better off just setting your money on fire. You’d still lose but at least you’d be warm.

This! Those of us in Higher Ed already believe in and support the mission. Many folks outside of it don’t. We have to focus on them and explain how it supports things that they need and value. And we must do so in THEIR language and on THEIR terms.

I don’t claim to have understood all of the symbolism during last nights half time show. But now that I’ve had the chance to digest it via insights from others…it was a stroke of artistic genius. Kudos to Kendrick, the dancers, artists, and design team for packing so much into such a short time.

“The future…will belong to those who design and implement a superior system…where leaders are chosen based on competence rather than elections.” Except they won’t be chosen based on “competence.” No, racial theory and Eugenics are here too. A chilling analysis of the current path. Read it!

I think Attiah is correct. The words we use to describe current events are key. Keep them accurate and direct. Call things what they are. One doesn’t need to twist into knots to do so as many of Trump’s appointees are already saying the quiet part out loud.

Trump’s “plan this time is to first play king on TV. If we believe he is already king, we will be likelier to let him govern as a king. Don’t believe him.” The last line is crucial: Focus on what Trump and his minions can actually do, not what they say they can do.

Musk “is seeking unprecedented access to confidential information, including information pertaining to his own business interests, and seems hell-bent on cutting off as much funding as possible for the programs that matter to the rest of us.”

In these times there are too few who clearly and directly view the situation in our country. Sarah is most definitely one of those. Her work is what I consider “must read” for understanding the recent past and planning for the current moment.
