So, obviously, my friend at the store and me made some comparisons. The size is almost the same, even if the Wing Sung is lighter, even filled, than the Pilot. Obviously, the main difference is the quality and the smoothness of the Japanese gold nib.

The Pilot Custom 823, a beautiful vacuum pen, in clear black resin. I know that the brown one is the classic model, but at the store, curiously, I had in my pen case the Chinese “homage”, a Wing Sung 698. This one is a nice and cheap option, with a good steel nib:

It’s a pity that now I have to check that you indeed posted this, and isn’t from some boring news site…

You fear the Italians, while Mexicans are everywhere and will at least slap you for turning Mexican dishes into Taco Bell…

Don’t know why, but there aren’t any Taco Bell locations in Mexico…

Nope. This is a café lechero (coffee with milk) in a Chinese restaurant in Mexico City.

Perhaps the nib needs some cleaning with tap water.

Curious how medieval painters draw house cats more fearsome than lions…

You can go for the Jinhao 10 or the Majohn A1 or A2. Both models are “inspired” in the Vanishing Point and I’ve heard they are good quality pens and much more affordable.

I would prefer to name schools or classrooms in that way…

Yes… it’s not as good as the Pilot vanishing point or even the Majohn “homages”, but is a nice writer with a good nib. Better than the Lamy Dialog 3 or the Nahvalur Eclipse.

It was a special collaboration with Moleskine. They had the Perkeo in this blue, in black and in red. The three were very nice looking…

Also, perhaps because the tree that appears in the picture is of a Jacaranda, a beautiful tree that I have shown before.

Hello! I’m not a saint, but that church is in Mexico City (3 blocks away from my high school!). It became famous when they used it for the Romeo+Juliet movie…

I would send you to the Caran d’Ache Ecridor. Not as famous as the German big brands, but they have many nice pens.

“Feedback” it’s the term for “it’s scratchy, but we meant it that way.”
comment in response to

Not necessarily. Some people like the “feedback” of the nib against paper. For example the gold nibs of Sailor pens.

Seems that you don’t know how third world dictatorships work. They will have their spectacle, regardless of how peaceful is the people. If they don’t get a violent response, they will create one.

It is! Faber Castell is a little underrated brand in their fine writing department, compared to other German names (Montblanc, Kaweko, Lamy come to mind), but they have a variety of interesting and good quality pens for all budgets.

Just a couple. The Faber Castell Ambition in pear wood. It has a good nib, although is a little heavy. From China, the Hongdian 660 in dark wood. That’s an affordable and good quality pen.
Also, if you want to spend more money, I can also recommend the Caran d’Ache Varius Metwood.

I love my Ranga, an artisanal brand from India, but I have a big selection of brands and models. I prefer Jowo fine point nibs.
