they came for trans people first and establishment libs responded by saying "maybe you have a point" and "it's an 80/20 issue"

Totally. I think any team will have calls they disagree with, and both teams in the same game will always have a few.

That’s a good draw. There was some stuff to be critical of in the performance, but overall we played well in difficult circumstances against a reasonably good side. It looks like growth

It’s a good ref who can refuse to take all the badgering, but can still laugh with the players at times

I didn’t have too much issue with it. Cards in the early game are hard to be consistent with once you start giving them. Overall I’m pretty please with how she’s managed it so far

And look, Harper took a minute or two to settle in and start to develop, right? I’m not counting the guy out. I just want to start to see reasons to think there’s a real player there.

A bit, yeah. But also tbf we’ve seen a bit of him over the last year and I think we can start to form an opinion. I try not to make too many definitive statements until a guy has a run of games, but he just hasn’t ever really shown us much

Watch how often his pass receiver loses the ball within one or two touches. He’s not really putting them in a position to succeed. Hes giving it to them with a guy on the hip…sometimes to that same foot #RBNY

Our CM corps seem all pretty one dimensional, and none are that slow-the-game dimension. Carballo at least seems to have the game smarts to see the need to speed up or slow down, but that’s kinda it. Maybe a little in Donkor as well
comment in response to post
Amaya was good at being able to go through the gears I thought. Able to slow it down when we needed without being one dimensional like that

There are still challenges, still barriers to break—but today is about recognising the progress, the victories, and the women who inspire us every day. Here’s to the women who paved the way, the ones making history now, and those who will take the game even further. ❤️

On almost every corner his man would have a clear advantage, and would break toward the ball only to see them kick way over his head. I was so confused. How do you not go directly for that matchup?! Oh well, if they want to be dumb it worked out great for us

I was very impressed with Sofo even ignoring the goal. That said he was so physically over matched up against Nashville’s entire backline that he lost basically every direct duel. Watching him defend corners was kinda funny.

It was really highlighted when Carballo came on b/c he and Edelman DO shuttle and rotate effectively. Edelman was really good all night, both with and against the ball I thought. But he was better after Carballo came on AND we got more from the right CM #RBNY

There were plays where Stroud was running over into the left channels to snuff out a play, and he was literal feet from Danny. Danny didn’t split and cover right. Stroud would crash the left, then run back to the right when it was over. Edelman rarely did the same #RBNY
comment in response to post
The main issue was that they don’t effectively shuttle vertically. Unless he is directly marking someone Stroud is almost never behind Edelman. He doesn’t drop in when Edelman pushes over or up. And they don’t seem to rotate well either. They’re very attached to their sides…sort of #RBNY

The one player that wasn’t great tho was Stroud. I just couldn’t understand his game. I couldn’t see it on TV last week so I can’t confirm it was the same, but he and Edelman do not complement each other at all. It’s a positional problem, and it’s 90% on Stroud from what I saw tonight #RBNY

The formation leaned heavily to the left side. Forsberg was a lone 10 sort of, but played almost exclusively to the left side. Before Harper went off this gave him room to operate, and he isolated several defenders out there. He was great before the injury #RBNY

First, this formation played more like a lopsided 3-5-2 than last week’s 3-4-2-1. It helped Moting a lot to essentially cut the field in half for him. He was so slick on the ball, clean first touch, great field vision, a real facilitator-from-the-front with good link up play #RBNY
comment in response to post
Moting should have had a goal tonight. Guy did everything BUT score. Whether you credit us playing well, Nashville being poor or something in the middle that was a terrific game. That said I’m even more convinced that Stroud/Edelman ain’t it. Stroud was poor

Close call between Edelman and Forsberg. Edelman covered absolutely wild amounts of ground and was assured both with and against the ball. Forsberg was all over the place as well, and of course THAT goal.

It was a big disjointed, but with patches of better play. I’m disappointed at the lack of goal threat, but not totally shocked considering the offensive turnover in the offseason. Definitely some rough edges to smooth over. Central midfield was a concern

Where we started to have more success was when we were able to get Morgan and Forsberg on the ball in the central areas, but that wasn’t a lot until Cincy went up and dropped off a bit. Chupo was active, and did good things, but vacated the middle too much. Never on the end of things #RBNY

From the opening minutes they were sitting off Nealis, blocking any ball into the CMs, and jumping the wide pass. When we did get the ball up the line the wingbacks were doubled #RBNY

Feels like it’s in flux. I don’t know that Edelman/Stroud in a 3-4-3 is going to hold it down. Edelman/Carballo maybe a bit better, but this certainly can’t be the final form of our CM plan. We very much looked like a team playing our first game.
