Like, the visuals of this show are just delightfully atmospheric. This show was deliberately Lovecraftian, played EVERYTHING as seriously as possible, and was basically a sci-fi horror show for kids...but only BARELY for kids. There is absolutely no light-heartedness to it.

Random observation; the 80's cartoon Inhumanoids is interesting in how it uses VERY bold shadows and darks, in a way that isn't typical of cartoons from any era. I once heard it described as an animated chiaroscuro, which is very apt. It gives the visual a unique gloominess.
