Bath for Europe are hosting a screening of the film "Flags in the Wind" by @europeanmovement.co.uk at the Widcombe Social Club this evening at 6:30pm. The must-watch film parallels the UK's struggles in WWII with the experience of Ukraine & questions whether the lessons of history have been learnt🇺🇦

Trouble is, a lot of decent people voted Labour because they approved of Britain giving aid.

This is so awful and sad - and where they feel silenced, we who have less to lose must speak up for our US scientific colleagues “The lived experience of a scientist [in the US] right now is terrifying” www.science.org/content/arti...

100% this

Oh @teamlabouruk.bsky.social what are you doing????

My Dad died 15 months ago & spent last year of his life in a London nursing home. He was bed bound, blind, deaf, with dementia and various health issues. Almost all his carers & nurses were non UK born and they were all brilliant. They treated my mother like family (and still do to this day) 1/3

My grandmas were immigrants, my mum & sisters in law are immigrants; my sister & nephews are migrants. My kids study maths, Shakespeare, dance, act & score tries alongside the kids of immigrants. My dad’s life was saved by immigrants. Immigrants have made us richer, wiser, stronger Win the fight

Immigration is a beautiful thing and don’t let anyone tell you otherwise ❤️

Trump may as well call his network of companies “Snake Oil Inc” and it seems people will still fall for it. Read this article and it seems that Scaramucci nailed it when he said “This is the golden age of corruption in America,” observer.co.uk/news/interna...

Bobby Jr. must go before he can stop me from getting this.

It's a fantastic book - download it - buy it - or just borrow it and read it. The Dust Bowl Triolgy are worth the effort.

Here, @westcountryvoices.bsky.social have compiled my thread on the utterly bonkers mismanagement of Dartmoor into an easy-to-read article: westcountryvoices.co.uk/prepare-your...

Yvette Cooper has chosen to hide her frontal attack on immigration behind the Telegraph paywall. Cowardly. The link below will take you to an archived version that bypasses the paywall, which means you won't contribute to the Telegraph's advertising. archive.ph/2025.05.11-0...

Got round to reading Farage two page “manifesto” in yesterday’s Mail. Populist slogans/unfunded promises strung together in a piece designed to portray 🇬🇧 as third world. But how about this for nerve from Mr Brexit? “The casual lies and careless attitudes of our political class have let people down”.

Nobel Prize winning science.

Just 13% of homes built in England and Wales in 2024 had heat pumps installed (58% had gas boilers). New homes are by far the easiest part of the home heating puzzle to solve; regulations that prevent the installation of high-carbon heating in new homes should be a Government priority.

So many people I know are facing waits of years for serious issues

Please repost, if like me, you will never accept Brexit. It harms the British people. It was obtained through foreign interference and by far the worst abuses of democracy in modern British history, and it robs us of freedom and citizenship. #RejoinEU

Nigel Farage has been a politician since 1999, when he was first elected to the European Parliament, where he remained until 2020. In 2024, Farage became MP for Clacton. Leader of the United Kingdom Independence Party (UKIP) 2006 - 2016 2019 he formed The Brexit Party, rebranded as Reform UK in 2021

A trade deal with the US could be hugely beneficial, but it must be properly scrutinised to ensure it doesn't threaten our NHS, undermine farmers, or give tax cuts to US tech billionaires. If the deal is in our national interest, the Government shouldn't be afraid to put it to a vote in Parliament.

One of the strangest ironies of the last ten years has been watching Britain immersing itself as deeply as ever in memories of WW2 while proudly turning its back on the project that emerged from it.

Brexiter Steve ‘hard man’ Baker says Labour’s trade deal with India is great news, “furthering free trade in the national interest outside the EU” But Steve doesn’t say that a customs union deal *with* the EU would be 20 times bigger. Or, of course, what Tory EU-phobia has already cost us.

The government was wrong to cut winter fuel payments. It was wrong to keep the 2-child benefit cap. It was wrong to slash disability benefits. Pushing people into poverty is the wrong thing to do. The right thing to do is redistribute wealth and power so that everyone can live in dignity.

😂

🚨 Cool new project alert 🚨 WE- you, me, everyone- need to work together to get important science messages out to people. 4 artists & 3 scientists collab'd on these posters. We hope YOU will put them out in your community. Each poster comes w/info about each topic. Get 'em Squidfacts.bigcartel.com

@labourlewis.bsky.social Are there other labour MPs speaking sense to Keir Starmer other than you? Someone needs to be really clear with him that if we wanted to vote for a RW populist party, we'd have voted reform. We didn't. We want more fairness, less division, more net zero and more EU links🙏🙏🙏

👏👏👏 to all the scientists in receipt of these funds - please communicate your successes in crystal clear language. We all need to hear about your amazing work.

The BBC are culpable for the mess we are in.

Inspiring celebration of David Attenborough from Kate Winslet and many others - and a much-needed reminder to stand with science www.theguardian.com/tv-and-radio...

Still waiting for Farage-mesmerised BBC to devote more than passing sentence to fact that Greens have more councillors than Reform and that Ed Davey's Lib Dems have all bit wiped out the Tories in their traditional shire heartlands....

Anyone else on here sickened to the core by how much the media fawn over the cesspit that is Reform??? 🤢🤬😤

Wise words www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...

Farage and Reform whip up people’s prejudices, then offer to get rid of what they hate.Their power feeds off ignorance and hatred. They make people angrier about the stuff they fear, then promise to fix it. Of course they won’t. But they know who to tell you to blame when they fail. (Letters, Times)

What we're seeing at a local level could easily repeat itself at the next general election. Imagine waking up in 2029 to a government supported by less than 30% of the public. This is an emergency. We must scrap First Past the Post before it completely destroys our democracy.

3 elections in as many weeks. Centre left parties in two of them take on populist right and win, in 3rd they emulate populists and lose. Could there be a lesson here? And is there even a remote chance U.K. Labour might see it?

‘Labour must start speaking about extent of Brexit damage’ – Andy Burnham www.thelondoneconomic.com/politics/and...

There really are some sick people in this country and who keeps egging them on? Farage is at the top of that list closely followed by the likes of Braverman, Badenoch etc who lead the MSM on this 'immigration is bad' agenda which is just statistical poppycock www.theguardian.com/music/2025/m...
