I especially like the last line: How many more citizens need to be evacuated; how many more cities and towns need to burn; how many more Canadians need to die before Ottawa gets the message and begins liberating our country and our economy from fossil fuel dependence — or should we say, captivity?

Noticing the same thing in books. I really enjoy the enemies-to-lovers trope, but I want to read other approaches, too!

I love the Elbows Up for Climate letter so much -- and am so profoundly grateful to all the leaders who signed it! 💚

Thank you for writing and sharing this. The connections between wildfire smoke and things like pregnancy loss, ADHD, and even autism demand more attention and -- especially -- action. 💚

And Flamer, by Mike Curato, is a compassionate semi-autobiographical story about the experience of anti-gay bullying. Sure, it's definitely for high school readers, but trained librarians would know that! Too bad our schools don't have those anymore because of devastating budget cuts.

Canadians deserve better. This is our money – and CPPIB is obligated to act in our best long-term interest. That means aligning our national pension fund with a climate-safe future. Take action now: Tell CPPIB to recommit to net-zero by 2050 and invest in a livable, stable future for all Canadians.
