A lot of what is considered or described as "medium" is actually more of a "medium-dark", mostly because the majority of Starbucks coffee is dark roasted, and that's what consumers expect. Which means that a "light" might actually be closer to a "light-medium" or "medium".

Well, a) it's Folgers 😂
but b) even the description of "light", "medium" and "dark" (or "espresso") roasts varies from roaster to roaster. (I got to tour a local roasting company when I was in my Specialty Team Member days at Whole Foods, so I learnt a _lot_ about how coffee is made.)

The roast makes a huge difference. If it tastes “burnt”, it’s likely a darker roast.
