2/2 It’s interesting that the English word has a sense that is so different to the Germanic and Italic words. #dyslexiaspecialist #etymology #historicallinguistics #bonnejournée

5/5 Here's an article that describes some of the traditions: www.lacucinaitaliana.com/trends/news/...

4/5 In the U.K., other than being celebrated within some church traditions, we don't really recognise the day, but in Italy (& I think some other Euro countries), it is a national holiday, and each region celebrates differently (there's a witch named 'La Befana' mixed in too). ⬇️

3/5 This is reflected in the origins of the word 'epiphany' which is related to words such as 'epicentre', 'epidural' and 'epilogue'. Links I had not realised, until I researched it last night! ⬇️

2/5 It's significant, because the Magi were not part of the Jewish faith (they would have been known as 'gentiles') and so it showed that he was the Messiah for both Jews and Gentiles. ⬇️

4/4 I put it through the Cumbria Reading Intervention’s book grading (for more info on what I’m talking about: bit.ly/bookgrading), and it came out as a Level 58 - take a look here for more details (bit.ly/3BPgS8z) of my analysis.

3/4 I’ve been reading them before going to sleep … but as this book reached its climax, I’ve had to get it finished off this afternoon, so as not to keep myself up too late! I’m looking forward to starting #3 later on. ⬇️

2/4 I’ve read the ‘The Clockwork Sparrow’ with a few of my students, & they’ve also enjoyed the subsequent books in the ‘The Sinclair Mysteries’ series. One of my students has started the follow-up series, & I read the 1st in order to catch up. This is the 2nd in the series. ⬇️
