If it was just the Luka-AD trade it would still be the most chaotic trade deadline in NBA history

You’re not making the allstar team if your team is 19-27. If you look across the board, they mostly rewarded winning over pure stats

Curry is a legacy pick, Wemby a tier above Sengun & Sabonis, Herro and Cade in the East. Allstar selection leans winning but makes exceptions.
The gap between Sabonis and Sengun isn’t big enough to warrant rewarding the guy on a mediocre team. Same reason why JJJ and JDub got in over Sabonis.

His team is barely over .500. Allstar selection rewards winning

Jalen Johnson is borderline. As good as Josh Hart has been, he certainly won’t get the nod

There's a bunch of other stuff in here. I had fun working on the piece, talking to Ime, and having an excuse to watch Amen + Tari make me feel bad for whoever they're guarding. www.theringer.com/nba/2024/11/...

Amen Thompson is probably the single most entertaining non-star in the entire league right now, imo. Very few can do what he does: www.theringer.com/nba/2024/11/...
