Interesting how I have basically the same number of likes on my #kidlitartpostcard post on Bluesky, an app that I’ve only posted on sporadically for a few months, that I got on IG, a platform I’ve carefully cultivated for years where I have three times the number of followers.

They are so magical. I went on a manta ray tour to see them at night, but was on one of the very rare night with no sightings!

Ohhh…I bet organizing someone else’s art studio is even more fun than your own because you can see new art supplies!

It might be too late to add to this convo, but I LOVE my Hobonichi Techo planner!

Thank you! Yeah…we’re on day 3, and I’m feeling a little loopy. 🤪

We’re fine and very lucky in the grand scheme of things, but still without power and feeling a little loopy and bedraggled. 🤪

Thinking of you! I hope you don’t have to go through that again! 😬😬😬 Our power is still out, and it looks like it will be for a while still. I’m nervous now with the second storm coming. Ugh. Keep safe. No floating away!

A friend of mine in NorCal is gearing up. It’s worse than I thought it would be. Sounds like most people in town are without power…lots of trees and fences down. Hopefully it weakens or something? I hadn’t heard of these atmospheric rivers/bomb cyclones before. I wish I’d prepared better!

Writing: Carry a kid-relatable theme throughout. Kids love naming things. Naming is a continued theme, from the repeated renaming of the teacher, from Mr. Boring to Mr. Perfect (not his real name) & the Latin names of plants in the fun back matter. “That plant IS Jerry.” 💚

Art: 1. Limited color palette. 2. Varied facial expressions & poses! 3. Love the page where the kids are all doing fall-themed activities even though the season is not mentioned in the text. Gives me cozy classroom vibes. 4. The spider plant has arms! Subtly brings Jerry to life.
