Jesus Christ. Pretty rich that the fm1s paragraph of this accuses other countries of trying to “extort” US companies with what really are just regulations & taxes at the same the US is literally trying to extort Ukraine for half its rare minerals w/ no security guarantees… or much of anything.

I had to look it up to be sure of what it meant and was delighted to find that one word conveyed what is happening so succinctly.

Would be nice to think so but I bet Trump gas a bunch of them in storage rooms and basements in Mar-a-Lago and Trump Tower. Like Orcs.

Sounds from other people that it would take a lot more than that. But that idea, along with other illegal things, like using the military in protests or immigration raids, may be what they are hoping.

This sounds very strategic. What could Trump be up to that they could interfere with? How could they make life difficult for DOGE or for making policy changes?

There are a lot of things wrong w/ media these days but I don’t months is a good or fair example. A) stories about things working well just aren’t a priority. Not a lot of news. B) there’ve been stories about how stretched inspectors are. & the system seems to work generally despite that. Until now.

Now you’re being silly. Because then we would know the truth. Or it would be a board of stooges. One of the many scandals slipping from view is all the watchdogs & agencies are being fired, gutted out outright shut down. Not even foxes are guarding the henhouse. The doors and gates are wide open.

You’re right. It’s also about stupidity. You helped elect the man who now wants steal Gaza from Palestinians and turn it into a resort for the rich. Trump may have extinguished the dream of a Palestinian state. Good job! 👏 🙄

@kenwhite @kevinkruse They bitch about being called Nazis then they mimic Nazis. How different is showcasing attempted coup makers singing the Nat Anthem at our national arts center than attempted coup makers singing Deutschland Uber Alles (what became the Nazi anthem) at the beer hall putsch?

I don’t know about other employees but I’ve had a lot of contact with letter carriers & most loved their jobs & finished their careers their. Loved their union, too.
Government unions all live with that rule & it’s regrettable but understandable. They’re generally effective at the table anyway.

And this could easily have a terrible effect on heavily Republican rural areas. The post office has trued fur years to get rid of rural routes because of the cost but bipartisan reps in Congress have always managed to beat those back. Hopefully they can block Trump’s effort here, too.

No evidence that this was about beliefs or that she claimed to be a witch. HE told the prosecutor that HE thought she was a witch and the prosecutor repeated those assertions in front of the jury w/out ever putting him on the stand to prejudice the jury. The husband easily could’ve been the killer.🙄

Also be aware that the Atlanta Constitution reporter who was there posted a running account of the meeting on Twittter, only to have references to DOGE removed. It seems vaunted free speech advocate Elon is very pro censorship when it comes to criticism of him … and he is DODGE.

From telling listeners “the left hates you” Limbaugh moved to it’s ok to hate them. Opponents became mortal enemies from then on.
Elon did this at CPAC yesterday, glorying in these mindless cuts and telling the crowd that bureaucrats “hate you.”
Sad and disgusting.

A slight edge to McConnell. Fox helped create the atmosphere that created the hyperventilating DefCon One permission structure for things like stealing court seats & endless filibusters. (You have to throw Limbaugh in there, too, for pioneering the whole victimization of the right thing.) 1/2

It makes perfect sense to post there but here and elsewhere for sure. Point out the censorship & hypocrisy at every turn. Censorship of coverage of an open meeting is outrageous. He oughta do a separate story on the censorship, talk to the rep. & attendees. X should be be slapped round there, too.

This is not one of Elon’s or Trump’s edicts. The deadline is an extension Congress passed in Dec. It was a Biden era bill provision set to expire in 2024. We should be demanding that congress extend it again in the coming spending bill. It has huge bipartisan support among seniors. And it saves $$

I didn’t take it that way. And I think these guys are finding their footing and starting to develop a comprehensive organizing strategy with key constituencies and allies. If that doesn’t start unfolding fairly soon, I’ll agree with you.

He has a point, though. Let’s hyperventilate and organize over the king-like things he’s doing and ignore what he calls himsekf. He’s trolling us. Let’s fight back, not troll back.

You’d be right if that’s the result. But trying to negotiate a conclusion to this is not a “secret deal.” & there’s nothing indicating that’s WHC’s goal intention. Would be silly to not try to settle this in a reasonable way before taking more drastic action that could have unintended consequences.

Also want to say good luck to you and what’s left of the Post. There are a ton of talented folks left and the paper is still rocking it on the news pages. (We’ll leave out the ad and editorial people.)
Keep it up!

I’m retired so I don’t feel like I can push people to do that. But you can and it makes sense. I do worry that the legitimate press corps will exile itself from Q and A events. But maybe the point is more important. (Interesting to me that Reuters & Bloomberg have the same policy but aren’t barred.)

I agree with you entirely but how exactly? Everyone starts using Gulf of Mexico? Boycott tight pools as long as the AP is excluded? What about the concern that tight pools would become propaganda sessions where Trump would be asked only softball or even fawning questions by Breitbart, InfoWars etc.?
