Stretching the analogy, seems he got a good result against a big team in a group game (and with the number of world leaders passing through the White House it does feel like a round robin). But still very at risk of an ignominious exit in the knockout stages.

We’ve certainly had significant bad luck this year and last. But do I see us winning consecutive big time play off games (let alone the Super Bowl) against proper teams? No. Sadly no.
