I love the look of the water on his clothes and fur. Excellent pose as well. So graceful on those big paws.

Ahhh, I see what you mean!
My thinking is that the pads on the toes, ball, and heel protect the contact points between the sole and the ground where the majority of the pressure goes. There's not as much pressure on the arch, so the fury hide is protection enough there.

And barely a thought in his head, from what I recall. That is so cute!

Ohhh, I see. I had only ever seen the smaller paperback shown in the OP. I love those illustrations. I recall that his little weasel-like friend was called a "Flopglopple" or something like that.

I don't think I've ever seen this artwork. Besides the piece used for the book cover. It makes my heart ache with how beautiful it is. I wish we could have had an animated adaptation created by Nelvana.

I read his novelization of the film a bunch of times. Very well written.

I remember Book of the Green Planet! I hoped so much that it would get a movie adaptation. William Kotzwinkle had such an eccentric writing style, it was a delight to read.

Thank you kindly. I have had Lynch on my mind a lot lately, even moreso lately. And this kind of crossover seems very much like something that Lynch would do.

Goodness, can't argue with that. Definitely up there with my shiny jackal-bioroid chap.
