So when does the pressure to move the location of the next Olympics and World Cup begin?

I never really saw any real evidence of a special relationship It was just PMs bigging themselves up to their domestic audience wasn’t it? But now it’s gone maybe we can stop hankering after deals and look back to Europe where we belong and work out what we are going to do there

Aaaand… here’s what you COULD have won!

Heh heh heh

📢 Chicago showed up! Federal workers & allies rallied to defend public services—and the turnout was huge. Social Security, Medicare, and veterans’ care belong to the people, not corporations. The fight continues. Join us: go.savepublicservices.com #SaveOurServices

The waste is coming from the White House. 👇

Brexit: “that great victory for the sovereign right to cock things up”… give ourselves food poisoning, lose control, swamp ourselves in red tape, pay more for stuff and stubbornly isolate ourselves from our own continent… A relentless, ruinous stupidity. (Private Eye)

Nigel Farage wants to get rid of the NHS and replace it with US Health Insurance which would be 4x more expensive and worse in every way. Except for the £600bn a year profit for him and his mates.

Every time I see Starmer greeting, or greeted by, a European leader it makes me happy. There’s a real warmth there that has been missing for such a long time. In these troubling times I have full confidence in our PM.

Fascinated by people who argue “The government only met their increased appointment target by ending the doctors strike” as a gotcha. I mean, yes? That would be the primary purpose of ending a strike, to ensure those striking could in fact do their job instead of striking.

Party that served up five dismally useless different prime ministers in less than a decade thinks it is pivotal to the future of western civilisation.

The Labour government says it has delivered over two million extra NHS appointments - including for chemotherapy, radiotherapy, endoscopy, and diagnostic tests -seven months early. This gov has got many things wrong, but in this crucial area it appears to be making real progress.

2016: Brexit: take back control 2025: The alignment of the White House with the Kremlin UK, weakened EU, weakened US, weakened Western world, weakened The winner? Putin Laughing at how he brought democracy down Laughing at 'make Brexit work' knowing that all versions of it weaken us

Today my 94 yo dad called and told me he’s worried. He grew up in WW2 Holland, suffering hardship esp during the 1944-45 winter famine. In the 80 years since he has experienced peace, progress and prosperity. Heartbreaking to think he now fears for the future his children and grandchildren may face.

Also from the FT: "A senior diplomat said: 'It’s very clear now, Europe is alone.' When I asked him if he now regarded the US as an adversary, he replied: 'Yes.'”

Starmer showing today that he’s good at foreign policy. It’s a relief to have a decent PM

Kemi Badenoch criticises gov debt, despite her gov increasing it from £1 trillion in 2010 to £2.5 trillion in 2024

💥 Well how about that. After years of Brexiteers saying we had to leave the EU to avoid being forced into a European army… … it turns out that Brits are fine with the idea. With the UK explicitly included. A plurality of Tory voters support it - and even a fair chunk of Reform. How times change…

How was this contract awarded??!

Trump blows millions on Daytona 500 propaganda as states suffer disasters. Europe scrambles for solutions while Trump snubs allies. Vance flops on the global stage. The MeidasTouch Podcast breaks it all down at 8pm EST/5pm PT!

Hey @JDVance, and @elonmusk, and @realDonaldTrump it looks like the Auschwitz Memorial wants to educate you. STOP LYING TO THE AMERICAN PEOPLE.

This is what oligarchy looks like.

💥Peter Kellner: "I quite like using numbers to make sense of the what is going on. Yet sometimes they are not enough. If they were, the fact that Brexit has cost Britain’s economy 4-5% of GDP would be a major national scandal." A 🧵 with some of the most exposing stats from Peter's latest blog👇 1/

When a judge stops the president from doing something illegal, that’s not a “threat to democracy,” that’s a check on the president’s power. That's the whole damn point.

In this new world, if you're not around the table, you're on the menu. If China, Russia, US are allowed to decide Europe's future, our future won't be ours. European leaders...lead! on.ft.com/3CQFzlI

If Brexit had never happened… …we’d be much wealthier, with more investment in public services, better trade - and with our parliament & govt having spent the last decade doing far more productive things. 🇬🇧🇪🇺🇬🇧🇪🇺🇬🇧🇪🇺🇬🇧🇪🇺

For 20 years, the UK has been inflating sentences despite little evidence it deters crime. But a new review offers a glimmer of hope www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...

This is where we are now: An elementary school at Fort Campbell has removed all books from its library that so much as *allude* to slavery or the civil rights movement. The wholesale erasure of history in real time.

Letters went out to federal workers this morning stating they were fired due to poor performance. However, all employees had been rated as “exceptional” performers by their supervisors. Please keep these records and pursue wrongful termination claims. Let the lawsuits begin.

I’m telling you now; if the far right have their way, including the likes of Reform here in the UK, the LGBT+ community will be reduced to less than the sh*t on your shoe. For the first time in many years, I fear for our community, and what the future holds for us.

"Three options to dodge an economic crisis" Raise taxes, cut spending or borrow more. But there is a fourth option: economic growth. How to get it? Rejoin the EU.

President Zelenskyy: “At the Munich Security Conference, I emphasized that European policy must not just be promising — it must make America want to stand with a strong Europe. Europe must decide its own future with confidence in its strength so that others have no choice but to respect its power.”

America was given a choice between a lawless, amoral monster and a qualified, intelligent, joyful woman of color—and it chose the monster. We need to reckon with the reality of what that says about so many of us here. johnpavlovitz.substack.com/p/america-ch...

Europe can’t rely on the strength of the transatlantic relationship to help contain Russia’s threat – it must lead from the front and be the true force of support that Ukraine needs. Not just for Ukraine’s sake, but for a free and sovereign Europe.

🔥 Lord Sumption says US is now “very, very” unreliable ally - - and the UK should disentangle from it. Absolutely right.
