If I recall correctly, some
Providence Police officer fired at a random car during this period and it resulted in the driver losing their eye!!

Same. Like we know it’s coming but it still is a major disappointment because it’s just so ridiculous.

Absolutely. My Mom worked for RI Hospital for decades and each year when we were growing up, they would have an outing(?) there. So much fun, including sitting at the long tables in the Shore Dinner Hall enjoying the food. ☺️

Exactly. Curtis Yarvin, the neo-Nazi thinker who is both a friend to and is the inspiration for Thiel and Musk literally suggests that poor people and “degenerates” be made into biofuel. Not kidding.

Federal law protects voter access. The Supreme Court ruled in 2013 (Arizona v. Inter Tribal Council) that states cannot require extra proof of citizenship beyond the federal voter registration form. The SAVE Act could violate these protections and will likely face legal challenges.

This disproportionately affects women, transgender people, and others who’ve legally changed their names. If they can’t produce court orders, marriage/divorce records, or other proof, they lose their right to vote. Many don’t have easy access to these docs, and replacements cost money and time.

Many Americans change their names through marriage, divorce, transition, or personal choice. But if your ID doesn’t exactly match your birth certificate or other proof of citizenship, you may be denied registration unless you provide extra legal documents proving the change.

Sorry to hear. Shouldn’t be that way.

Sadly, this issue was a significant factor in my decision to leave Providence as much as I loved living there. As a non-driver, my mobility plummeted in the winter. Every single year I had to call Stop & Shop to remind them to shovel so pedestrians could access essential groceries safely.
