I really do think it’s the “bleed” effect of the ink on the page- it softens the linework to make it feel so dimensional. The sharpness & harshness of the scans takes that away, making the lines look far more like haphazard scribbles.

My current and steadfastly held belief is that after making pochita vomit up ear and thus fulfilling his purpose in the mission, he yielded and positioned himself in the hopes that pochita would kill him. I’m imagining him in the position that he was on his inside volume illustration.
