A US Senator Joins the Fray. Thank you @murray.senate.gov ! More of this, please! www.murray.senate.gov/senator-murr...

Nature Story "Revealed: NIH research grants still frozen despite lawsuits challenging Trump order" (with non-paywalled link) archive.ph/7h6Im

🧪 #publichealth Newly funded NIH grants = new job offers. Renewed grants = jobs retained. Musk has paralyzed NIH funding. NIA council recommends funding for grants, meets 3x/year. The January meeting was cancelled and has not been rescheduled. Red state people please call, email your reps/senators.

The root that tears apart your foundation begins as a seed of distrust, hate, and blame. The seed that grew into a dictatorship in Europe didn’t arrive overnight. It started with everyday Germans mad about inflation and looking for someone to blame.

📢 “He’s trying to steal Medicaid to enrich himself. He’s gutting NASA to line his pockets with SpaceX. He’s looting everything good in America for private profit.” - @aoc.bsky.social at today’s #SaveOurServices NYC rally. The fight isn’t over. Join us: go.savepublicservices.com

#science #usda-ARS #NSF news about law suits: www.govexec.com/workforce/20...

“For the last 75 yrs, the NIH has been the biggest funder of biomedical research in the world. Most advances in medicine were seeded by NIH funding. When we became scientists, we just bought into this system. This is how it works. — @tuthill.bsky.social 🧵 www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025...

#science #USDA-ARS #NSF #lostgeneration I'm reposting this. If you have been fired from a federal science-related job please share your story with ASPB and other scientific societies who are advocating on your behalf.

#science From Wired RE #NSF: "Many of the people terminated on Tuesday work as program managers and experts who make decisions about funding by aligning research proposals with the right program and matching those proposals to the most qualified reviewers to assess them and make recommendations."

A lot of our academic colleagues go to work at NSF for a couple of years as a rotator. In the programs that have funded me, rotators have been essential to keeping those divisions going. It's hard to see how these firings won't severely diminish NSF.

#science #nsf @usda Resources for Federal Scientists: www.ucsusa.org/resources/re...

Breaking: In a ‘first round’ of cuts, every ‘probationary’ employee at NSF was just terminated. They received no severance. Insurance cuts off at 1 pm edt. Program Officers were given two hours to turn over their programs and clear the building. 1/2 #OpenAsResistance #StandUp4Science

NIH + NSF scientists affected by today's layoffs: C&EN is working on understanding what expertise the government lost today. Give me a ring? (Signal: Laurel_Oldach.07)

NEW: NSF confirmed that they fired 168 employees today, out of their staff of ~1,500 feds. This includes some people who'd finished their 1-year probationary periods, which were extended to 2-years last month without explanation. More to come.

I'm starting to hear that NSF firings have begun. If you're affected and want to talk, please reach out via signal @jonlambert.12

Firings happening right now at the NSF.

Letters went out to federal workers this morning stating they were fired due to poor performance. However, all employees had been rated as “exceptional” performers by their supervisors. Please keep these records and pursue wrongful termination claims. Let the lawsuits begin.

@jeremymberg.bsky.social maybe you can signal boost this? If you think it is worth it

#science How to understand NIH indirect costs. watch this short video. www.aau.edu/key-issues/i...

NIH is NOT INVOLVED in setting indirect cost rates. These negotiations are done either by a completely separate office within the Department of Health and Human Services, or by an office in the Office of Naval Research, depending on the institution.
