What also sticks out for me is that the satisfaction rate is lowest for carpooling, even below solo driving.

The inevitable outcome of attempting to shoehorn in more matches in a short time frame than players can realistically be able to do.

Yeah, but it's also the truth.

Given that Carlin thought everyone and everything other than himself was stupid and deserved to die, that's not "common sense."

Yes, that's why I said be careful what you wish for. I want FOTUS deposed as much well, but I could also see us being lured to support another tyrant as long as he says he's against the felon. A long-term plan is needed. Otherwise we just get our own Cromwell or Robespierre.

What this conveniently leaves out is that Charles I was replaced by Oliver Cromwell, who imposed a military dictatorship that was even more brutal and vicious than the Stuart kings were. As the saying goes, be careful what you wish for.

Effective method to help trams have the right of way.

IIRC, the US version was retitled Internationalists and had a different cover (B/W portrait of Paul and Mick instead of the elaborate shop). It's a tossup between this and Cafe Bleu as far as my favorite TSC release.

More like "they're not far enough left for me. Therefore, I'll stand on the sidelines and do nothing except applaud while it all burns down."

They only have power if you let them.

No one truly appreciates the present until it's safely in the past.

Somehow, that's an insult to Drake, and I never thought I'd say those words.

Those who have lived in that all their lives have adapted to it and think it's natural. Mind you, they likely have the same questions about surviving a Canadian winter.

Are you sure about Brigadoon? That had been a play for more than 20 years by 1968, and a film for 14 years.

The series was directed by Chuck Jones when he and his crew weren't working on the main Looney Tunes films.

Maybe, but it's still important information.

Replace the collar with one of his bow ties and it's a deal.

And they are often the same people who gripe about homeless encampments "ruining our city." Like they are unable to make the connection.

Whatever it takes to push back against car-centric culture, regardless of where it is.

It's the humiliation of backing down every time and him coming off like the incompetent nitwit he is that's being made fun of.

The difference is that while the latter was seen as ancient history by 1991, much of music and pop culture still tries pushing the former (and alt rock in general) as current, like we're still stuck in the 90's.

Just another of the many reasons not to move to Texas.

Musk has committed far more heinous crimes against us to be mad at. Laughing at him for being on drugs is taking the easy way out.

Not helped by the troll in the YouTube comments going on about how cars are still the most efficient method of transport, and throwing our dubious stats on how various European countries still have mostly car traffic.

The nice, sunny weather probably had a lot to do with it.

I would never go down there if I couldn't walk, bike, or use the bus or light rail.

Too often, I've come across people online who think that "stupid = anyone who doesn't look, think, talk, or act exactly like me."
comment in response to post
Whenever I come across a post where the person is clearly looking to annoy people or has a viewpoint radically different from mine that won't be changed by arguing, I preemptively block them. It makes things better for both of us.

To be fair, the high cost of renting is also a major issue in many of the other cities in the ranking. It's not something unique to Vancouver.

If I see someone throwing off some snarky remark just because they think it makes them look better than me, my response is "OK, and your point is?"

But all the car drivers would complain about not being able to go "where I want, when I want", never mind the choked highways that would make it difficult to impossible to do so. And the inefficiency of personal vehicles in cities anyway.

You forgot one. Getting his personal revenge against everyone and everything he thinks slighted him, no matter the cost.

I never threw away my CDs, still love them and add more to my collection. The vinyl snobs thought they'd scored a permanent victory last decade, but with the skyrocketing prices for vinyl I'm glad I can score a CD of the same title for a quarter of the cost.

Corvallis has OSU, so that automatically bests whatever is in Albany.

It seems this happens more than a bit. We never realize how popular the K-pop acts are and how zealous their fans are until it's happening in front of our faces.

There's no magic to it at all. It's a combination of more exercise (walking, biking, etc.) and eating smaller portions. Apparently they think anything less than the sizes offered at Claim Jumper can't possibly be enough.

If the question is "can we reset things back to the way they used to be ", the answer is no. The only way ahead is to build a new system from the ashes that will avoid the inherent weaknesses of what we were accustomed to.

But dooming is what draws traction here, regardless of if it's helpful or not (it isn't). I've found it gives too many people unwarranted justification to do absolutely nothing.

West Vancouver an affluent enclave resistant to change? That is NIMBYism in a nutshell.

Looks great from across the Pacific. Queen Street has completely changed from when I visited in 2017, it appears much more inviting to pedestrians.

Yep, it's very much like the RCP. That group has engaged in those tactics since the 60's.

The comic is nice, but since then Bluesky has become home for a lot more angry, hateful people like the other sites. It doesn't feel that inviting anymore.

I would much prefer going in on density. Sprawl isn't sustainable over time and makes all the associated issues worse.
