Pitt to pause PhD admissions, following Vanderbilt and USC, because of uncertainty of NIH funding to academic universities. Who will teach and train US scientists for pharma and biotech? Should we import them from countries that do? www.wesa.fm/health-scien...

More Friday night villainy: many NIH grant opportunities that disappeared two weeks ago and then reappeared last week have now disappeared again 🤬 Search grants.gov with close date in ascending order - 2 pages with closing dates now today (2/21/25), many with archive date tomorrow (2/22/25)

This is huge breaking news. Trump fired the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs, Chief of Naval Ops, Vice of the Air Force and all three JAG’s of the Army, Navy, and Air Force. Watch this breaking news report we did for @votevets.org tonight. This is outragous. www.youtube.com/live/OdOjEdR...

These cases are so critical in understanding causal reasoning clinically with biomarker-informed diagnoses. In the community, this is just called AD. Now, with wider spread molecular biomarker use, awareness of alternative causes will be important for practicing clinicians

“We’re fucked.” Good write-up in Nature on how the current administration has used the Federal Register as a workaround to block NIH spending without seeming to violate the injunction against the spending freeze. If it’s not rectified by September, billions of $$ for science research will be lost.

Just so awful

Very important to get this word out!

Serious question for the legal scholars here. Are we at the Constitutional crisis point yet? When the Executive Branch refuses to comply with the Judicial Branch?

Chaotic & indiscriminant 15% indirect cuts across the board. What assurance do we have that NIH's operating budget will be adequately renewed in March? Particularly given the higher likelihood of US debt default? Abuse us once, shame on them. Abuse us twice, then we're acting like we deserve it.

Let me ask again: where are presidents Obama, Bush and Clinton. Where are the Fortune 500 CEOs? The university presidents. Is all this “leadership” stuff they tout just words? I don’t want to think so but the question must be asked.

I have been talking to the media, Time, Fortune, NBC, etc., to explain how the onslaught on science and NIH will impact the health of all Americans. Everyone knows someone who has cancer, heart disease, or depression. Spread the word about how cutting science impacts all. time.com/7216299/nih-...

See that bright, glowing object with a tail? That's not a comet. That's the planet Mercury.

cc: @Gavin Newsome It’s time to build a CDC & NIH in California with the folks who were fired from the feds. In fact, I think each blue state governor needs to scoop up these scientists, healthcare workers and laboratory workers asap. @gavinnewsom.bsky.social
