Just finished the new @cdylanm.bsky.social Knott’s Bear-y Tales book. Fun to learn about Marion Knott and her stewardship of the park as Walter & Cordelia stepped back, but that sort of generational momentum is hard to maintain with so much $$ at stake.

Efteling comes immediately to mind. Most others I can think of are much smaller scale such as Gilroy Gardens. Lots of even tinier family parks such as Children's Fairyland in Oakland. Interested to know if anyplace in the US could operate as a non profit at Efteling scale.

There’s a good documentary that digs into Kincade’s darker side, Art For Everybody. Hopefully it will get an actual release sometime soon. artforeverybodyfilm.com

For my theme park inclined followers, check out TO THE FAIR, a delightful film produced to promote the 1964 New York's World Fair preserved by the New York Public Library with a @filmpreservation.bsky.social grant. www.filmpreservation.org/preserved-fi...

I meant that it is better than NIGHT OF THE HUNTER. My original pick for this "last 25 years" challenge was THE BROWN BUNNY.

Wait, bud, have you seen a little movie called BUFFALO '66?

I love CONFESSIONS OF A DANGEROUS MIND but I'd rank it just under BROWN BUNNY and THE PASSION OF THE CHRIST for purposes of the challenge.

Also feels a bit like 80s Disney which bulked up for new parks/projects then scaled back. On top of that, reading between the lines, they don’t seem to be hitting attendance/revenue targets.

The other day my 6-year old daughter cracked her knuckles and said “That’s the stuff.” Did a double take but she’d learned it at school. Gods be good…

I do not have any inside information but I am guessing it is a temporary situation while they upgrade/switch-over the site to include general information and more, you know, Archive stuff. But I could be wrong.

Kingo’s Kitchen actually sounds pretty good. Bollywood movies and Indian food…
