Joining a short (less than one week) game jam is always a good way to get the creative juices flowing, and the time limit helps narrow scope! Definitely give it a go if you're able to.

Dunno if you're looking for any recs, and with the caveat that I can't cook for shit but Lucy cooks super good: I don't think she's put this book away once since I got it for her last year, like it's always on the stand in the kitchen.
Claire Saffitz also has two good desert books.
