Elon Musk leaving the administration to spend more time with his explosions

When Elon Musk was part of the administration, people said that if Tesla goes bankrupt Trump will just bail him out. Now that Musk is on the outs with the administration, people say he's no longer worth targeting. If you want to bankrupt a shitty billionaire, stop talking yourself out of it.

pride is next week pride wasn't brought to you by delta air lines, microsoft, coca-cola or even the democratic party. it was brought to you by trans women throwing bricks at cops and lesbians taking care of gay men dying of AIDS during reagan. do not forget where we came from. now more than ever.

Photo editor out here enjoying their Wednesday

i’m here you fuckaas bitch

DOGE wasn’t trying to cut fraud and waste. Elon was gutting the federal agencies investigating and overseeing his companies. Sorry if you still think Elon spent $291 million to elect Trump to make our government more efficient.

Check the date, for transparency. Ghost jobs is a stupid corporate strategy made up of casual cruelty, make work, & cheap tech affordances. You’re not crazy. It’s not mining, in most cases. It’s the corporate version of online dating - gamified searching www.businessinsider.com/ghost-jobs-w...

The kids are all right. Even at Harvard. www.thecrimson.com/article/2025...

"Musk returned to his weird rocket launch site after getting to fire all the people who made and enforced the public health and safety rules that might have made it slightly pricier and slower for him to launch rockets whenever he wanted"

Folks need to understand that it’s been a goal of the right to destroy higher education for decades, and now they can see it within their grasp. This is nightmarish stuff.

Can't help but feel we're living through an increasingly existential war between spectacle and substance with spectacle winning battle after battle after battle.

The bad news is Bluesky's daily unique liker count is down over a three-month period. The good news is you can just use whatever websites you want to without caring about that kind of stuff for any reason

It is absolutely a threat to real art. I have friends who are real artists, who are in the illustration business, who are losing work to genAI. The point of technofascist capture of the arts is to lower the expectations of audiences/consumers so they'll accept degraded, automated 'content'.

I still think the best idea for progressive donors is to just revive every alt-weekly in the country and staff them with 10 reporters each.

When people say “I don’t like the Discover page” it’s like ok your first mistake is using the Discover page because that’s just not a thing anyone should need after being on Bluesky for a month. It’s like going to Times Square and eating at Planet Hollywood, it’s for tourists and will never be good.

"I have nothing to hide! I don't need digital privacy!" Well... - AI companies are scraping your data - Scammers are using AI to get better at their schemes - And yeah, a new era of government surveillance... A starter guide to protecting you online life:

"If all Democrats do is attempt to match public opinion, they’ll be forever operating within a Republican frame, stuck watching the polls while Republicans move them." stringinamaze.net/p/the-tyrann...

we can still save bluesky if we take pennsylvania

If we stop calling these “grants” and start calling them “contracts,” it’s clearer to people why this is such an abuse of power. This wasn’t a bunch of gifts. This was a bunch of binding contracts between researchers and the US govt for specific agreed upon projects.

The funny thing about the “centrists aren’t welcome here” argument is that most of the big politics people on here aren’t leftists. Jamelle Bouie has pretty normal mainstream political views, he’s just against racism, and if that’s your issue about viewpoints Bluesky doesn’t welcome? Idk man!

Counterpoint: it’s literally their job to listen to the people who elected them, that’s what democracy is

The overlap between the “we need a left-wing media apparatus/Joe Rogan of the left” people and the “actually Bluesky IS kind of a bubble” people is one hell of an intellectual phenomenon, boy I tell you what

This really needs to become a staple feature of all science and tech reporting in the current age. We need to go out of the way to connect all the dots for readers about how cool new tech and exciting breakthroughs trace their origins back to federal research dollars.

There are a LOT of sickening revelations about Blue Cross in here but I want to highlight that they found while Blue Cross denied payments for thousands of breast reconstruction procedures they approved special deals on those procedures for executives’ wives.

then die.

Have they tried being less impotent?

I've... been working on anti-imperalism for decades... and... he just... he slurred it out

Report: Police killings rose in the five years after George Floyd's murder New @motherjones.com: www.motherjones.com/politics/202...

it is extremely funny, actually, that the democrats’ plan to overtake the republican stronghold (reduced solely to trump winning 2024 rather than the slippery slope of enabling the party was up to throughout the biden admin) is to be saved by a white dude podcast

I cannot stress enough how much of a Def Con 1 moment this is. Federal judges fear that the President of the United States will stand down security for judges in retaliation for adverse decisions. This is such a huge story.

Hard to believe they’re talking about the same event.

if your grand approach to politics is bloodless poll-testing so that you're always aligned with wherever public opinion happens to be, you've already lost

Hell is empty.
