My review of islands of abandonment in yesterday’s JEP easier to read version. #BookSky medium.com/@JennBridge/...

Books just find me. Last week I read an interview with Marianne Brown & that’s how I ended up spending snatched moments reading ‘The Shetland Way’. Today, I will mostly be reading Agnes’s Callard’s book - The Case for a Philosophical Life. #BookSky

I have written to the Corporate Services Scrutiny Panel regarding FOI. I'm deeply concerned about Tom Binet's recent statement suggesting limiting the number of requests an individual can make due to his concern regarding costs and the allegedly vexatious nature of some FOI requests.

Important question in today’s excellent @jepnews.bsky.social editorial, to which the answer is undoubtedly yes

We are reading this in our book group.

Trump is a Putin apologist and a Kremlin mouthpiece and always has been.

One of the wonderful things I love about spending time with my old school friend is doing the Guardian cryptic together. Not least because it’s great to get my hands on a paper copy (It’s not sold in Jersey).

Even though I’m a Humanist, I found visiting Chichester Cathedral today a great antidote to the cesspit that is Twitter.

Are you angry about transgender people using the bathroom of their choice?

My piece in today’s JEP. Grab a copy for ease of reading.

#Jersey 🇯🇪 friends - I’m having a big book clear out. Have a browse. If you want any, you can pick them up from my house in Gorey or I can bring them to the next repair café at the Parish Hall on the 11th of January 09:30 to 13:00. If you want to take a whole box, I can deliver east of the tunnel.

For Midwinter and as the most special night of the year approaches... Two reindeer carved from a single piece of mammoth ivory 13,500 years ago in Ice Age France. Now at the British Museum. The official interpretation is the reindeer are swimming, but we all know they are actually flying! 🦌🦌🦣🏺

I thought most children stopped believing in Santa by the age of 7 or 8.

As we approach Midwinter, here's The Black Stag from the cave of Lascaux. Considered to be either a creature of Ice Age myth, or a rendering of an extinct Megaloceros. Deep in the ground it was drawn above geometric symbols, including 13 circles, the meaning of which is now lost. #AncientSky 🌙🦌🦣🏺

The graph below scared the living daylights out of me two years ago. Paralysed by deep seated anxiety formed during school sports lessons 40+ years ago - I did nothing… until now. Read about my journey to playing Padel tennis with the help of a knee brace. medium.com/@JennBridge/...

In this animation we took our new interpretation of the La Cotte site, led by @beccyscottuk.bsky.social, & worked with @jerseyheritage.bsky.social to share it! 🦣 No game drives 🦣 Ambush hunting 🦣 La Cotte as home base 🦣 Enigmatic bone structures Read the paper free here: shorturl.at/Orr7a 🦣🧪🏺

As we approach mid-winter, an illustration of cave art showing two Reindeer; from Font de Gaume cave, France. One is licking or smelling the other who appears to be sleeping? giving birth? dead or dying?. Originally rendered by someone of the Magdalenian culture, 16,000 years ago. #AncientSky 🦣🏺

My own kids got so much from Le Squez youth centre; if anything needs funding on #JerseyCI it’s places like these jerseyeveningpost.com/news/2024/11...

The main focus of my work is the Neanderthal site of La Cotte de St Brelade. We're working with the brilliant @jerseyheritage.bsky.social to protect the site, study the artefacts & share with the public. This neat animation explains how Neanderthal people used the site. search.app?link=https%3... 🦣🏺

One of my favourite parts of our book group meeting is when we share what we’ve been reading. #BookSky

After some important interactions on here today, it strikes me that the primary people we should all be consulting on the subject of assisted dying are those currently living with life limiting conditions / terminal illnesses. Several individuals have told me they feel completely ignored.

Well done to Deputy Inna Gardiner for pushing for action on the #PlayStrategy So much work has already been done. What message does this give to all the stakeholders who have been involved thus far - notably the Youth Parliament. Let’s get this over the line.
