I am so sorry. I began teaching in 1982, and always gave kids permission to 'pass' if they wished. I finally asked who wanted to read aloud, as some did like reading. It helped the less able readers ti understand text.

I don't think it matters what Americans think about us. American citizens have no power. Or they aren't harnessing it. They are fighting for their lives and livelihood. Let's shut the door and look at what Canadians and Canada can do for ourselves.

Truthfully, student transportation is cancelled, but schools remain open. Staff are expected to make efforts to get to the school!
