Copy editors are like fairy godmothers. They also spot when dimples jump back and forth. 😂

I think it would depend on what you’re doing at these meetings. Checking in on each other’s progress or exchanging work? Personally, I think groups about 5 or so is perfect. Any larger and not everyone can commit.

Do you do anything in person or is it strictly online? I’ve been debating on searching for a local writing group to help with the motivation.

This is great! It’s always helpful to talk to people who understand what you’re going through.

At least you’re still being creative and productive!

Hahah Ok, you and I are of one mind. Except I haven’t experienced that growth yet. I know it’ll make my book better and I’ll be so glad when I’m in the thick of it. But it’s the starting that always make me freeze.

Awesome! You should definitely celebrate! I know I always get super nervous whenever I get that dreaded email.

This could also be difficult because some 16-17 year olds can be super mature while others are still trying to discover who that are. I tend to write characters who are still trying to find their way in life. But I guess that also goes for adults though. 🤷🏻‍♀️

I never thought of it that way before. Definitely makes me feel better about writing all these scenes. I was worried about being repetitive.

Did you try to read it out loud in their voices? I do that all the time. That’s also the reason why I don’t write in public anymore.

My characters always have their deepest important conversations in a car for some reason. I don’t know why. I don’t even like to drive most of the time. #writingcommunity

Yes! Sometimes I hear about all the slang nowadays and wonder if my YA sounds teen enough. 🫤
