I hope you were kind to yourself today

[the statue of liberty looks at the camera] THE ARISTOCRATS!

Henry, the oldest Nile Crocodile. 124 years old, little over 5m long, father of over 10,000 crocs, captured in 1903. Still active, strong and healthy

I want to thank Senator @edmarkey.bsky.social for this post - it's the first thing that's made me feel hopeful since the election. Save this image to your phones. Whenever you feel like things are hopeless and we can't win, look at that image. It made me want to fight again!

Listen friends - gather your hope where you can. People showed up in all 50 states on a moments notice. Voicemail boxes of senators are filling up. Lawsuits are being filed. Look at all the good people. And do not forget to take care of yourselves. Seriously. This is a long haul.

You aren't letting anyone down by taking a day off from the news. The shitshow will be there tomorrow. Others can churn rage on your behalf while you breathe and keep yourself safe. You are not doing patriotism wrong by ensuring you don't lose your mind every single moment of every single day.

@jollyredgiant.bsky.social hi from Facebook.

Lion's reaction to seeing her rescuer, who helped raise her as a cub🦁❤️

Reminder: They're trying to demoralize you, and they're doing a great job of it. Part of resisting is making time for joy despite the attempts to make you feel this is not the time for it. Love your people. Dig the art that speaks to you. Go to the places where life flows into you. You deserve joy.

Renaissance Faire first day of the season. Headpiece by me. New staff.

An unelected, erratic, ketamine-addled billionaire with far right/white nationalist views has taken control of the personnel and payment systems of the United States government. Not an exaggeration, not hyperbole.

A little melm. 🐶🐕🐾

Fun fact! When the Nazis were looking for templates for their horrible fucking laws, guess where they went looking! Yes! That's right! The US Jim Crow laws! So, yes. Fucking Jim Crow, yes.

I don’t wear my heart on my sleeve. I wear it where every woman does, in her pockets.

Drink water. Move your body. Unclench your jaw. Prioritize rest. Make some art. Spend time with people you love. Remember, in these times self-care and joy is an act of defiance.

CNN's Jim Acosta signing off: "I will not give in to the lies. I will not give into the fear. Post it on your social media so people can hear from you too." I will not give in to the lies. I will not give into the fear. Post it on your social media so people can hear from you too. Pass it on.

It's been a week. The shock part is over; the awe part never happened. Time to be throwing sand into the fascist gears, y'all.

A week and a day off of Facebook. My mental health has improved.

I do think it’s super important right now and in the foreseeable future to really value moments of joy and to be intentional about making as many of them as you can

A grim but essential memory: 80 years ago today Auschwitz was liberated. That there was an Auschwitz to liberate is unspeakably tragic. . . www.history.com/this-day-in-...

“After Auschwitz, the human condition is not the same, nothing will ever be the same. Here, heaven and earth are on fire.” —Elie Wiesel

If you feel overwhelmed by the deluge of bad news streaming out of Washington, that's by design. Instead of feeling helpless in the face of it all, pick one or two issues that speak to you deeply and concentrate on pushing back on those. This is not a sprint. Saving the Republic is a marathon.

Do one thing every day to help someone currently in harms way. Learn how to identify and protect neighbours from ICE agents. Stand up for the LGBTQ+ community. Wear a mask in solidarity with the disabled community. Learn about anti-Blackness and commit to doing better. Don’t let hate win.

I have a little plea and it's this: please keep posting about things that aren't The Horrors. I am not saying to not look at or be informed about The Horrors. What I am saying—what I am genuinely kind of begging you to do—is keep posting about books and movies and sunsets and pets and joy. Please.

You might need this right now. 🐱🐈. Volume up.

I love you. You are not alone, we are not alone.

Today we celebrate the life of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. "Make a career of humanity. Commit yourself to the noble struggle for equal rights. You will make a better person of yourself, a greater nation of your country, and a finer world to live in."

Welcome to Germany 1934! I hate it here 🫠🙃

For the record.

You know you need it. Take a minute. #OceanDevotion

On Martin Luther King Jr Day, we shall remember the woman who shattered ceilings to be to the first Black/Asian woman to be the American Vice President. Thank You Kamala Devi Harris for all of your work these past 4 years 🙏🏾 #kamalaharris #martinlutherkingjr #blacksky
