Apparently, the first editions enclosed a crossword puzzle linked to the clues the crossword-loving hero was completing in the book. It had a generous (esp for 1963) prize of £50 for the first ten solutions received. Pretty good marketing effort! www.deightondossier.net/Miscellany/c...
