An E-bike battery burned my house down on the first day of GDC. Seeking mutual aid from financially stable colleagues. gofund.me/47306b15

Spotting a random message enthusing about Barkley is the conch for the masses. Time to spend the next 55-ish hours marvelling at maniacs.

Ho ho ho, Merry St. Patrick's Day! Consider checking out this great list of games by Irish developers, available on steam: store.steampowered.com/curator/4145...

I ran in Altras for the first time today, and I'm really impressed by how easy it was to feel how landing on my left leg (the problems leg) changed as I got tired. I've always known I do something like this but it's the first time I've been able to pinpoint exactly what's happening. Yay?

Websites are the printers of software. I will not be taking any questions.

This morning I properly tried bench press for the first time in about a year, and got to ~10kg short of my old PB! And I'm pretty sure I could have done a little more if I had time. I've been terrible at doing upper body so this is such a win for me 😄 The guns are not so far gone it seems

There's nothing quite like sighing and reassuring yourself that it's just been a hectic day and things will be grand, then realising it's only 8:30 AM 😭😭😭

The second Havok engineer presentation at #GDC2025 is Navigating Expansive Worlds: Implementing Custom Large World Support in Unreal. schedule.gdconf.com/session/game...

I'm listening to a podcast where the interviewee is hugely knowledgeable about a niche field and keeps describing themselves as "an introvert, an empath and a high sensitive person." I want to reach through my headphones and ask if they've ever taken a raads-r test

The line between feeling seen and feeling called out is perilously thin.

I live in fear that someday people are going to take my "all the gains" comments seriously. Like not enough to make me stop making "all the gains" comments, but enough that making them gives me vague concern

I only played it for ~16 hrs this weekend, which I know sounds like a lot but I also got in all the exercise, housework and other things I needed to do. So I'm considering it a great success!

I hope this finds you well

Like theoretically, if I decided to dust off my install of Stardew Valley and spend the entire weekend playing it, how completely mind numbingly burned out would I be next week? Cause it seems like a really good idea right now.

I've started reading Orbital by Smanatha Harvey and I can't tell if I actually don't like it, or if I only don't like it because the book I finished before it was fantastic and it can't live up to it

I've never played Animal Crossing, and I probably never will, because choosing to believe it's a spiritual successor to Animal Farm gives me more joy than any game could.

I've just spent a few hours rearranging my attic, researching how to seal a driveway, pulling up weeds, and making a not-so-toxic weed killer. Which is cool and all but I was supposed to hoover, and it doesn't look like that's happening any time soon 🥲

The eternal question: is it love, or are your textures broken?

Graphic Design gurus, any recommendations on a course to take to get me past the horrible point of having my taste exceed my skills, so I know everything I make looks kinda bad but I don't know how to bridge that to looking good 😭😭😭

Not me pulling my hair out trying to make a relative image path work in Twine as if I didn't once teach this damn thing to people 😭 oh the hubris

So part of the reason I never got a current gen games console is because my undiagnosed ADHD would essentially destroy my life when I found a game I clicked with. Now that I'm rocking some meds I'm wondering if it's safe to get one again. A truly 21st century conundrum.

Is it possible to build a small soundproof room in your house without looking like a murderer? It is in fact a murder preventative, because all I want to do is read in peace and quiet but all my neighbours want to do is break the record for most continuous irritating series of loud noises.

My team writing on Black Panther is looking for a Senior Writer to join us. Ideally we are looking for someone with knowledge or experience of African Culture and/or Marvel to join a team committed to creating authentic, powerful stories on an ambitious project: jobs.ea.com/en_US/career...

I don't know what a member role is on Discord and at this point I'm too afraid to ask.

Patriarchy: women can't be in power cause they're too emotional, superficial and shallow Also patriachy: ok so let's base the world economy on a popularity contest, we'll call it the stock market and you have to buy my stock cause I'm the coolest and smartest person here. Ok?

I had a friend ask for some help making something (not a game) and it seems like Unity is the way to go. I'm now saying silent prayers to long dead gods that my mental model of the easiest way to make this work lines up with some Unity workflow I can find. Wish me luck!

After 5 years of mostly remote work I can confidently say that the main problem with working from home is resisting the urge to use my super fast work computer for personal projects.

Look I know blue monday isn't a real thing. It's a marketing ploy. I get it, ok? So I would humbly ask that my booking of a holiday today be excluded from any online habit tracking. It was a coincidence. Possibly related: trail running holiday to Chamonix is on!

Started the day looking up sheep breeds, ended up doing a mini report on the sheep/wool industry. This is entirely useless information for me. That is unless farmers are on the news about low prices for fleeces again. In which case I'll get to horrify people with weirdly indepth hot takes.

Excuse me while I pick my jaw up from the floor www.youtube.com/watch?v=VLGy...

I've been steaming a pudding for HOURS and took it out to check to find it's only half cooked cause my steam wasn't steamy enough? It's back in the pot and I've set Let's Get It On to play in the kitchen. Fingers crossed this works!
