I recently had to have a friend explain a very basic thing to me that I've been confused about for years cause the example I learned in college was totally inaccurate. eh... and that's my little rant 😅

And related, lecturers giving career advice that they're totally unqualified to give, and refusing to learn about how the industry is now, versus what they thought it was like 10 years ago. Oh and giving examples that don't relate to real world use cases at all,

and if they want to code games they need to learn to code outside of that framework too, and they were all adamant that the Unity framework was universal.

Worst thing? Lecturers who know nothing about the industry and confidently teach the wrong thing. An example being they choose one tool and convince their students that everyone in games uses this, when in reality most companies use different ones and

I've always tried to keep games on a console to try to separate work from fun- the classic problem with working in the games space- but now work is also asking me to play games so... I am very lost

I don't know about where you are, but here (Ireland) when businesses shut down their equipment sometimes gets sold liquidiation auctioneers for cut rates. I know someone who get a Hermann Miller super cheap at one, it might be worth looking into.
