Your reminder that there's a call to boycott big chain stores on Friday, but supporting small businesses is still đź‘Ť Particularly small Black businesses this Black History Month.

Seriously, creative folks: Don't be afraid to let people know your stuff is out there for them, or worry that "now is not the time for that." People are stressed and freaked out and looking for the things that will give them a moment of rest and joy. It is EXACTLY the time for what we do. Tell them.

Dear artists: Afraid of death? It’s coming anyway. Afraid of failure? We all fail. A lot. Sometimes spectacularly. Afraid of these fascists? There are more of us cheering you on. Don’t stop creating. Not now. Make art. Piss them off. Create. With anger. With hope. Keep going.

Each day this week, I am doing a thread to signal boost creators that are being targeted for marginalization by jerks. If you are a creator with a disability, please post below and include a link/sample of your work. You DO NOT have to disclose your disability! Support these folks, everyone!

Write new worlds. Write beautiful places. Write angry people. Write imaginary beasts, futile quests, broken hearts, lifelong injustices, mysteries, love affairs, lost children, newfound purpose. Write anything that allows you to escape or heal or vent or rage or explore or reconcile. Write đź–¤

Authors, if you see this, it’s a sign to NOT post the first line of your book where it can be scraped like everything else online. That the A I goons are going to feed it all into their rusty blenders doesn't mean you have to make it easy for them. This goes double for a WIP.

Each day this week, I'm making a thread spotlighting and signal-boosting creators who are in different marginalized groups being targeted by jerks. Today, it's Trans creators. IF YOU ARE COMFORTABLE, please post below with links to your work if you can! Art, music, crafts, whatever! Show us!

Consider us launched! Issue 3 now available in our shop, or at the links below. Feel free to screenshot & share your work, and help promote others. Tag us so we can like & repost 🍀

If you sit down to write and for some reason still think that your work shouldn’t be “too gay” or “too political” or “too much about race” or whatever else, remember that motherfuckers are out here throwing up Nazi salutes. The time to go harder than ever is now.

These are very good suggestions, but a few key ones are missing: attend library board mtgs and speak in favor (many are on zoom), donate $, and vote for measures and bonds to increase funding. Patrons have real power. Don't let a handful of bigots destroy your library.

You do not have to consume every single tiny piece of bad news in order to be a good person. It’s ok to miss things. Traumatizing yourself isn’t the same as activism. Bearing witness to the point that you’re paralyzed with fear and horror and fury isn’t going to help us get through this.

Hearing my daughters all laughing together. New pens. Listening to The Great Pumpkin Waltz on a cold morning while I make breakfast. A stranger’s handwriting in an old book. Seeing ducks swimming on the Hudson.

It’s the last #FridayReads of the year! Let’s boost all signals and make it a great one. Repost this and let us know what to repost for you. Trying to get a new contract in 2025 and every copy of this little monster that finds a home makes a difference! www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/0316...

It’s the last #FridayReads before Christmas! Let’s boost all signals today. Books are the best gifts! Repost this and let us know what to repost for you. Here’s something for those who like it dark, violent, and full of revenge. www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/0316... bookshop.org/p/books/hous...

The highlight of my creative year was having one of my scribbles appear in this collection alongside so many amazing writers! #HorrorWritersChat

*cracks knuckles* Who is ready for my FIRST serious Bluesky thread (can we call it Skeet shooting) on "Collapse" of Civilizations (the topic of my next book Humanity: A Survival Guide). It might be timely...

the actual best thing you can do for your mental health the next 4 years is make it a point to not wake up everyday and google the president to see what shit he did while you were asleep. Stay engaged, stay aware stay alert but don't do this, it will not only not help it'll make you feel worse daily

Attention authors of Bluesky, we bring you news of a great submission call from Flame Tree Press, @leemurraywriter.bsky.social and @davebjeffery.bsky.social gnofhorror.com/this-way-lie...

In complete shock at the passing of Scott Wampler. His kindness and wit were a bright light in the horror and creative communities. Rest easy, sir. You remain, as ever, loved and admired.

I've been monitoring the ups and downs of rebuilding subscriptions post-Amazon for the magazines that have been impacted. Unsurprisingly, it turns out that survival depends on us being more shameless. So... If you like what we do, maybe it's time to subscribe: clarkesworldmagazine.com/subscribe/
