Had to Google Translate this, but it was a very gratifying message to read! "Now that I've gotten back into the system (using 90% of ToX), I think this is the best way to get a first taste of it. Not Marvel, not Leverage, not anything else—TorchLite is awesome for that."

happy pride, girlies

I've always thought #BundleofHolding is dope, but it is especially awesome that they are doing a #PrideMonth bundle of LGBTQ-friendly #TTRPG books. And this is particularly great deal as well. @bundleofholding.com is good people. bundleofholding.com/presents/Pri...

Incredible satellite image of the 33 (!!!!) operational fossil fuel combustion engines at the site of Elon Musk's XAI data centre “appalling that xAI would operate more than 30 methane gas turbines without any permits or any public oversight" @selc.bsky.social www.theguardian.com/technology/2...

this is disgusting.

Man looking over my memories on Facebook. Really a gut punch when you see comments on stuff from three different people who have now passed away.

Whenever I see "AI ethics concerns" it's always crap like "should Claude have a social security number?!" and not "should OpenAI all be in jail for marketing ChatGPT like it's your friend and designing it to prioritize continuous engagement above all else?"

Department of Homeland Security officers invading a congressman's offices and arresting a staffer who tried to stop them is very, very bad. gothamist.com/news/homelan...

Someone else said something very similar to this the other day, but. It really burns me that our (millennials') generation was legally terrorized for like, downloading Radiohead discographies But we're supposed to be ok with billionaires stealing human intellectual output in its entirety bc AI

Periodic reminder:Substack profits off Nazi pages bc they don't want to be "in the censorship business,"but they also won't host adult content,so they ARE in the "censorship business." They just think Nazis are better than pornographers. This is why I will never give Substack a single shiny nickel.

Expected it to be a little bruising to sell off 30% of my RPG collection but the most cutting moment came at the end of the day when an eleven year old kid looked into the tub marked ANY ITEM TWO DOLLARS, turned to me and said, "Why do you have all this stuff?"

F--k the New York Times. I just canceled my subscription.

In related news: the speaker of the house is a liar

The number of legitimate artists and writers getting shit because some piece of shit keyboard champion makes an assumption is fucking terrible. Which brings me to: dont trust an ai block lists that you didnt make, cause these people are assholes and you don't know.

As the parent of a type-I diabetic, I would like to invite the ignorant piece of shit currently directing the FDA to kiss my ass.

I wish there was a secret formula for detecting AI writing at a glance but there just isn't one and spreading the idea that there is one just makes trouble for authors who like em dashes or hyphens or semicolons or whatever the tell is supposed to be this week.

Narrator: he didn’t

Explaining to the AV guy at church that I already kind of know OBS because I use it to stream #dnd 😂 #ttrpg

Jordan Peterson was humiliated when he left his safe space, the same thing happened to Charlie Kirk. The more these people are challenged, the more they are exposed. This is why they rarely venture out of the right-wing bubble.

Hope anyone in need or homeless sees this

As someone said a while ago, it's not a content boom, it's a taste collapse. The people who think AI can replace the human touch haven't consumed a single meaningful piece of work in their adult lives.

"We are free as bodies, or not at all. And so health care is a right, one of the most basic... Dying senselessly is no act of freedom. And too many people in the USA do die senselessly because we have the wrong idea of freedom." www.thelancet.com/journals/lan...

AI evangelists are archetypal "Ideas Guys". The ones who are convinced they've come up with the best movie/comic/game concept ever, but just need actual talented people to make it for them. The inevitable lack of interest from creatives is, in their mind, the reason they've never succeeded.

As an FYI, I'm noticing more and more that words Microsoft Word highlights as mispelled are, in fact, correct and the spellcheck on Word is wrong. I suspect the incorporation of AI is dumbing spellcheck down to the point where I now always verify a spelling on m-w.com before accepting it.

Literally would rather hang out with nazis who want me dead and are scheming to kill me than people who want my boss to try to exercise power

😁😁😁😁

The young men we are fretting over, *who are a decided minority of young men*, are very clear that they want the patriarchal bargain back, and they want it to benefit them personally What version of the Democratic platform could plausibly do that for them?

Somebody just told me that over on XTwit the red hats are boycotting Harvard. I stopped laughing long enough to type this message.

Never forget

For many years I've been chipping away at a personal Dark Sun project: A campaign setting designed to bring a West Marches game style to Athas. It's finally finished and available for free! 378 pages of sword-and-sandal psychic survival and settlement building adventure. athas.org/resources/cd...

I see a lot of people blaming the comics industry for the 6-figure debt that Peter David’s medical struggle put him into. But please, please don’t forget to blame the United States, where not having affordable health care is a personal failing not a community issue.

Five years ago, George Floyd was murdered by Derek Chauvin. The number of people killed by the police has risen every year since then. Marjorie Taylor Greene (🤮) is advocating for the release of Chauvin. We still owe George Floyd so much justice. I. CAN'T. BREATHE.

Billionaires are funding Andrew Cuomo because they know he’ll work for them, not you.

lol I just got momentarily hysterical thinking about the fact that the New York Times got its managing director for communications to confirm on a Saturday that it is standing by its reporting that young women in China have tiny hands and this is why Apple has its factories there

Just spoke with my CDC sources They said a new COVID-19 wave is hitting NYC and LA. Cases up~20% this week expected to rise further over the next month. Exactly 4 months since the January 20 peak, the virus is resurging.

I just did a reread of @scalzi.com’s Interdependency series. Doing this the same week that the GOP votes on the Murderous MAGA Budget Bill was utterly surreal. One of the characters makes the point that in the end times the only people worth saving are the wealthy. She isn’t exactly the hero. 🧵

Thread, and a reminder that science fiction might take place in "the future," but it's written by people who live now, for people who live now. And we do write what we see.

*Is that even "black humor"? Gee whiz

"Ice has become Trump’s private militia. It must be abolished" It's become fashionable for even progressive politicians to diss the 'Abolish ICE' movement. I make the political and moral case for abolition in my latest for @GuardianUS, with receipts: www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...
