I thought 90% of the hobby was filling a shelf with obscure and esoteric manuals that you get out once in a while to look at for the rad art, but largely gloss over the minutiae of the rules and gameplay.
This is how I feel trying to convince mundanes to try FIASCO, which has a priceless version to tempt them, or WOMEN ARE WEREWOLVES, a similar card game. They just nod in that way that means “girl what the fuck”
I'm a long-time Shneeb Hole reader, but I can't agree with Melvin's 5/5 rating. He only the read the game, and is ignoring some crucial issues that manifest at the table.
Ive been playing it with my group, it's potentially FIST compatible but we haven't tried because our dm is a very serious person™️ and doesnt want to turn the game into homebrew hell yet. Way easier to play/run than Lancer
I did consider making tri-fold brochures with quick-run settings to sell with it, but the amount of work needed, and the very noisy space that is RPG design caused me to go "Naaaah."
It's harder to write concisely with worldbuilding than it is to write at length.
??? Really? Maybe we're lucky, or missing the point, but it just sounds to us like what people who only play D&D think talking about other games sounds like.
I have not seen the new TTRPG, I will never see a new TTRPG, none have been invented since '89 when they created Advanced Monster Huggers, the only game that matters.
The number one reason I screech in despair is the D&D ride or die stans. “I wanna play SMALLVILLE is there a D&D hack” girl there is an entire branch of gaming based on it for the love of god why would you play SMALLVILLE with D&D
Because DnD (5e) is the only system people are willing to try half the time because they don't want to have to learn a new "complicated" system 😔 I did just about manage to get half of my group to try Monster of the Week though after like 6 months of suggestions though!
Never thought I'd see Systems Bitch carry water for Shneeb Hole. Their quality has really fallen off since they were bought by MediaMangle, I think half the articles are AI-generated.

*Borko Manifesto game
It's rattling the bars of the cage
Complete RPG in four pages. One of the very first in the "how small can we make an RPG" trend of about 18 years ago.
$3. Less than a cup of coffee and comes with a setting ready to run.
😉

Call me when it's got an implementation Foobar Virtual Table Top. Or at least a Broly30 character sheet
