The placement of "trans issues" here is, without exaggeration, one of the most depraved things I've ever seen in the pages of this publication.

amazing, welcome! i don’t know if you’re a podcast person, but @youcantdohockey.bsky.social is another huge perk of caps fandom.

if the caps aren't your vibe, i'd be happy to recommend another team. based on your description i'm not sure if there's a single standout "we might be bad but it's gonna be fast and fun" team this year, but there are a few decent options.

- most importantly, ovi is now just 15 goals from tying gretzky - we play our bitter rivals, the penguins, tomorrow at 3pm eastern. will be a great game to dive back in with if you enjoyed the drama of the 4 nations

important things that have happened since then: - we got swept in those playoffs (honestly, hilarious and deserved) - we got a bunch of new guys, all of whom are thriving, and we are somehow second in the league - coach still hot. team shares his postgame speeches on instagram.

might i recommend the washington capitals? here's a presentation i put together for my friends when they made the playoffs last season. (btw i'm a frisbee player and found you in the frisbee list, not just a total rando) docs.google.com/presentation...

and it gets even worse when you consider how many teams in the nhl use similar colors. i’m a caps fan and here’s the list of opponents who i could watch play us without issue if we just decided dark-on-dark was okay: knights, preds, maybe sharks that’s it.

i do think there’s a way to do it where teams use more color in their light jerseys, instead of white as a base color. but the more teams you have and the more color combos you have, the trickier it gets to ensure sufficient contrast.

as someone who is colorblind, i find the dark-on-dark games very difficult to watch. given that my condition effects like 1 in 20 people, i would hate to see that become the standard.

Another extraordinary exchange just now about "animus" in the court hearing on trasngender members of the military:
