The sore thumb is 3b. I really hope they can do something there in-season because it's untenable.
comment in response to post
The biggest reason I was surprised they did it is that Hoskins is the slowest guy on the team.

A really good power hitting 3B would be awesome one of these yrs…

The bunt was dumb and as a team we’re hitting tons of ground balls with runners on 3rd less than 2 outs - not awesome
comment in response to post
And the slowest guy on the team was the lead runner

There is no GOP anymore as we used to know it (warts and all). It doesn't exist.

We're trying to do the same thing w/ 400 lefties in the lineup

It was a ball but it was also a great pitch. Too close to take if you're the hitter there...

Blood is boiling.

Just a horrific pitch
comment in response to post
Yup, it would be nice to have a great two way 3B one of these years.

The better strategery is actually elevating the baseball. The lefty heaviness of this team is also a big problem.
comment in response to post
It gets blamed for the hitter not elevating the baseball - he has to take a shot at scoring there - back to back ground balls just quite suboptimal

100% agree

I think the big question now is can Bauers pitch in back to back games.
comment in response to post
Yeah it is but he still roped it - Civale looks absolutely horrible.
comment in response to post
Same, but he's resting on the rail w/ the rest of them so hopefully fine.
comment in response to post
There is still a scenario he can be flipped for longer term assets so hopefully he ends up having a solid first half...

Honestly hated the trade conceptually the moment it happened (b/c a key piece was a 1 yr rental) - he's obviously going to be a lot better than that but the whole thing is annoying...
comment in response to post
Trading an asset w/ some value for a 1 year rental (not to mention the mini-me sized infielder) was always a preposterously stupid idea - games like today will just make it even more annoying.
comment in response to post
He was really off, I think he's usually a slow starter. If Turang takes that walk...

When you can't muster any offense every bad bounce hurts 5x as much...

Umpire didn't give him much of a chance tbf. He should've been working ahead in the count. 2 balls were called strikes.
comment in response to post
Was definitely a stupid HR. Hope we hit some...

Excellent defensively - Cain level - and not a liability at the plate - so the combo works. Next week would be nice.

Perkins is a deceptively bad injury. He's quietly valuable.

First impression: there are too many lefties in the lineup.

So Freddy, get behind in the count and then...

Same as when Ron Wolf picked up a colossal bust named Desmond Howard and I expect the very same results.
comment in response to post
Low/no risk which usually don't work but why not, I say.
comment in response to post
I keep waiting for them to have a bad season because even well run teams have an off year but… somehow with different guys every yr they win…
comment in response to post
I feel the same way - on paper it doesn't seem like a fit at all in terms of what they need.
comment in response to post
What you just said on CNBC about the chaos and the no plan stuff needs to go viral.

@michaelbatnick.bsky.social I hate it too...

That's the real issue. There zero evidence he can hit which renders him completely useless.
comment in response to post
Agreed and I'm not trading or investing based on any of it but unlike the 80s he most definitely has the power to screw everything up now...

Worse. He's just piece of garbage, but that's what the country wanted I guess.

They did but I think in 10 yrs we're just as likely to be talking about how they passed on Mahomes AND Jayden as we are about this hire working out...
comment in response to post
Yeah, the Morgan injury crushed their depth on the interior - they were very fortunate... right up to the biggest game of the season.
comment in response to post
They never played to the level of legit Super Bowl contender-yet they were grouped w/ the elite teams for a lot of the season (remember how huge the @ Detroit game was made out to be?) based mostly on beating the mediocre/weak sisters -the reality is that they were never on the elite level this yr.

We're going to agree to disagree. 2-5 against playoff teams, playing the same stupid game against Det and Minn 4 times over. They did not build on last season and that wasn't just about today - they were also bad today before guys started going down. Today was typical of the szn not an aberration.
comment in response to post
I give Philly very little credit. They weren't nearly as good as I thought they'd be...

As a fanbase we often accuse other rivals as being fraudulent. We were the definition of fraudulent this yr - our record bloated w/ ugly Ws against mediocre teams. All of our true colors were on display today. Every. Single. One.

2nd worst Packer game experience of my life and I’m not young…you know #1.
comment in response to post
Highly debatable. Last year's team beat a Super Bowl winner and team that was Super Bowl worthy and then won a playoff game. Actually, it's not looking all that debatable.

That 4th down call was one of several terrible play calls today. You have a running QB and keep him under center to take the snap. LaFleur was absolutely abysmal today on so many levels..
