Or leased from. For example, after 11-9-2001 the US tightened up the lease agreements to prevent certain things falling into the hands or used those not specifically listed in such agreements.

Remember seeing this when I was in Belgrade. The new Fiat Tipo topped the sales charts back then, possibly the only Fiat that has managed that in 30+ years

The result: our future points to the EU, not the US. I would like to hear a more European focus on programmes like BBC Talkback. The US is culturally & politically a dead end for us here in NI as it is elsewhere.

It's fine being a USA enthusiast, however in light of the political and cultural slump over there, can we get more European focus on shows like Talkback? How about the German elections, Ukraine and a broad sweep of events on NI's doorstep. The US is a laughing stock now. Annoying....

Likewise, I work in customs clearance and the size of change in legislation is vast. It's almost a puzzle moving goods around legally. Can't say that's an improvement...

Having both UK & ROI in the EU would be far better than NI only as part of a United Ireland. If GB was still outside the EU it would do nothing to mitigate the damage of Brexit. You can't just imagine GB away.

Folks should be encouraged to plant new trees to replace the ones blown down. I'm noticing a lot of elderly/mature trees coming down last few storms. Don't want Belfast to resemble Reykjavik in a few years time..

I have about 5 copies of BN magazine, oldest one from 2001. Seems a pity to bin them, is there somewhere I can send them? Would BN accept them back?

Still, there appears a market for old tech in new hands. Fuji and Polaroid are suddenly popular with instant photography. I can see "antique" dvds becoming popular again. Just like LPs have found a new market.

I opted for Panasonic DVD-RAM thinking it would provide me with the most flexibility. Nice while it lasted, then hard-drives turned up, Blue Ray. Amazing we are now at the end of HD-DVDs. My CDs and DVDs are rarely played these days. My bridge & compact cameras are now obsolete too

Don't think The Cure had much input in it then. Within 5 years Philips had the first DVD recorder in the shops at an eyewatering £1200, soon tumbling down. Again that didn't really take off either. Not all is lost however, the first air fryer was a Philips one, around 2010

Or change the camera angle on The Cure's live concert CDi. The Cure were signed to Philips own record label Polydor then. Philips had a good record in innovation but currently most household products are made by licensees, leaving the field to the likes of Sony etc.

Knew someone close to it's design at Philips in Eindhoven. Then one day around 1995 it was all over and the world switched to DVDs. There was nothing wrong with CDi but it's so difficult to market one system when others are promoting theirs. Also the case with Video2000 & Philips DCC.

Russia. Although Iran helped his regime, his baath party origin would not suit Iran. He used to live in France and his wife is English so him trying to make it there is not entirely unthinkable.

Welcome though it is for employment etc, that bit of retail is saturated in NI. Lidl alone has over 40 outlets.
