Kelly is still feeling a bit poorly - does anyone else have a greyhound who hacks a lot but otherwise seems fine?

The sun came out on our afternoon walk! Here is the birthday girl once more ❤️

Today is Fiona’s 2nd birthday - her first with us! We went to a fancy pet store and got treats and this coat for her.

As I try to make some sense of the shit-show I see around me, I find myself drawn to this James Baldwin passage again and again.

Watching Jurassic Park, where a computer nerd with a debt problem and delusions of grandeur tears down all the safety systems, with no understanding of the consequences, so he can better facilitate his planned espionage and theft.

Dog update: the dogs are good. Kelly has a slight limp that we are keeping an eye on.

When we watch a movie, I usually try to find someone else posting about it to work from - but I see no footprint here for Rats! Which is a movie that manages to have strong 2007 vibes while also being truly insane.

Pssssst... hey. I believe in you. Times could be MUCH harder than this, and if they were, you could get through that, too. There's a spark in you that's inextinguishable. That's what matters, not anything trying to extinguish it.

An excellent read!

Hulu ruining the Oscars is really poetic coming after Sean Baker’s speech about streaming services killing the movies

Our Hulu ended the Oscars right before best leading actress was announced. Woooow.

We are going to a greyhound first aid class today. Maybe I can share some of what I learn here after!

Watched this one just in time for the Oscars and I hope it wins. It is a movie that is hard to watch but is worth the effort.

A snoot so long that the camera can’t handle it

TOMORROW 👇👇👇

We saw this movie at the theater tonight and it has absolutely destroyed me. My goodness - I don’t yet have words.

It is crushing to learn that someone has died from measles in Texas. I spent my entire career in disease prevention. Vaccines are the greatest preventative public health strategy we’ve ever come up with. This was preventable. apnews.com/article/meas...

Ooh, good question! I have heard good things about StoryGraph and have been meaning to try it out. I think this is the push I needed to create an account!

Sharing as I deeply love NK Jemisin, but also to reference later for more reading recommendations

💥 UPDATE: Apple shareholders voted today by a margin of about 98-2 percent to uphold diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) — @droste.bsky.social reports. Costco shareholders voted by the same margin on an identical anti-DEI proposal brought by the same shareholder activist group, NCPPR, last month

Today was surprisingly productive!

Interesting puzzle 🙂 I solved today’s #Gisnep in 05:46. 🎉 No. 200 | February 23, 2025 gisnep.com

Catching up on films in advance of the Oscars - we just got to Sing Sing. This movie is such a gem

It all hits, but this one especially so - PHAP is how I started my public health career. I don’t know where I’d be without this opportunity.

Nicole's post is INCREDIBLE, I loved editing it and have been so excited for everyone to enjoy it; a deep read on Bad Bunny's work and the high price of colonialism.

We learned today that Bob’s Red Mill is closing their cafe and shop in Milwaukie 😩
