I'm rather confident myself that the player need to realize the ONE hook immediately when checking the game store page.
If he/she is not able to determine it fast, it's hard for him to decide if the game suit to his preferences = leave the store page in 10sec. 🤔

What I've discovered, is that I'm still unable to present the "hook" of the game for the potential players. The store page (and even the design) is just too broad.
People dont really understand the purpose or the main point of the game from the trailer and such.
Need to simplify it!

In my opinion, even indies are able to gather player data to determine if a product has "a future" or not.
It's about being able to create processes that take that "product validation" into account, before rushing into long development period.

Pre-prod is a rather interesting topic. I guess it's "hated" since there are no clear thoughts how it could be done?
Considering things like market research, prototyping, artstyle research/testing to name a few.
