Starmer's project is to decimate the left it seems. Utter madness, very likely to launch the fash into the foreground.

The winner was someone who is clearly more concerned with material conditions of the people he will govern. Maybe its a microcosm of distracted party machines missing the facts that peoples lives revolve around.

I thought it was good and important. Getting an expert in, really doing the work. If hasbara exists without pushback to the polity misperceives things.

Your claim here seems to be "constructing a wind turbine requires energy and material inputs. We currently satisfy those inputs using fossil fuels. Therefor we will always need fossil fuels." Have I understood your argument correctly?

Two caveats: (a) our data collection has improved over time, but we don’t think that’s explaining most of the growth when we compare across years; (b) the political conditions under which we are collecting data are not identical across years; more on the latter point here:

‘Vestigial brains’😂… maybe a throwback to our distant chordate sponge-cousins the Tunicates🪸, who as children have brains and can navigate the world, but then regress and become sessile filter-feeding gasbags 💬attached to rocks or some similar concept

Don’t let billionaires convince you that creepy, problematic technologies aren’t creepy & problematic. Because once they can convince enough people of that, well… then we’ve lost. But we (the 99%) haven’t lost til then. Technology is not destiny & they KNOW it. They’re terrified we might know too.

why does 'television' have both latin and greek etymological antecedents? why has 'nice' changed from positive to negative connotations several times over the centuries?language doesn't have to develop logically, nor does tend to in practice.

In Australia the public broadcaster used to show all these British black and white films. Some great, many terrible. Then at 4am or so we got I love Lucy. Was genuinely a great time, more or less.
