Genuine poetry can communicate before it is understood. T. S. Eliot

I’ve never wept listening to a podcast before now. Omar gives me courage to be my authentic self both as a writer and as a human being. I’m one of the lucky few to have studied with him at Tin House. Thank you for being an unflinching truth-teller, for standing up against evil and the complicit. 🇵🇸 🇵🇸

Roses are redde Noble are the manatees To counter the nonsense yn the worlde We must teach artes & humanityes

Hey, artists, in case you were wondering if your work matters: I'm a scientist working on climate change and biodiversity, and I would not be who I am today without The Lorax, The Secret of NIMH, Watership Down, The Last Unicorn, and The X-Files. I know I'm not alone. Thank you for all you do.

RASL by Jeff Smith: Not bad, not amazing, though there are many cool things happening here/cool world/scifi concepts/cool character concepts. Just didn't get my hooks into any of these characters, and the story left me desiring in the end. Did appeal to my parallel universe-pilled brain, tho.

This week on GlobalComix, we have new arrivals from @thevaultcomics.bsky.social, AWA Studios, @topcowofficial.bsky.social, and more. Do you have a new or updated series dropping this week? Share details and find links to read/add to your library in the 🧵 below!

Worst. Episode. EVER.

Of course you don't know how to write it. That's why you have to write it

Seeing an ipad baby - no, this is not good Seeing a cat watching the television - incredible, you are like a little man

The wonderful @caseyplett.bsky.social wrote this for the Star. Powerful words in these unsettling times. www.thestar.com/opinion/cont...

From Vanishing Monuments: When the doctor calls I'm standing in the kitchen in my little house in Minneapolis, drinking the microwav'd ends of this morning's coffee, and as soon as the doctor says the words about Hedwig Baum—about Mother—the girl who runs away comes back into my bones.

headline: Elon Musk has constructed the Howling Engine, which converts the anguished cries of children into cancer democrats: in these dark times, the american people need us to reach across the aisle

I don't know how I would survive without writing. It's the only thing where I feel like I have any control, power, or visibility. Now is a great time to cultivate and nurture the things that do this for you. It's okay to let the world bring you down, just don't let it keep you down.

It is important to note that while I have published four books, my first one is still Excellent.

Quick intro for new #booksky followers: I write the kind of #queerlit that @jestintzi.bsky.social calls “a laugh-riot punctuated with gut-punches.” Novel WONDER WORLD at a library/indie bookstore near you. Work in journals & anthologies across Canada, the UK, & NZ. Read some online at krbyggdin.com.

I need to start doing more “developed” images from doodles and stuff this year, this is one from something silly I’m working on.

also I suppose it should have been implied here but you should get a copy of Bad Houses (even better if from an Indie press, but wherever is most accessible is perfect--especially the library!)

Out of a strange impulse to be nice to myself I almost didn't click this, but I decided to do it anyway (to be mean to myself) and saw that BAD HOUSES is #6 here! The first time I've seen any of my books on any sort of "bestseller" list.

bringing this mood back for 2025
