It's been incredible to watch this guy publicly wipe his ass with a different sacrosanct Republican constituency every week and it just doesn't matter at all

Does anyone have recs for good folks to follow covering African politics?

researchers are still trying to invent politics that isn't gender

As usual, the right & their sympathizers have it backwards: it's feminists who thinks that boys, like girls, have the innate capacity to be good. That's why we want to hold boys accountable when they mess up. It's the right who associates maleness with ungovernable, ingrained negative behavior.

The problem isn't that young men are barraged with messages that they're awful, the problem is that the Tates sell the message: "you can be an evil selfish creep and get all the money, all the luxury, & endless access to sex & female attention, but being a good person is for losers & betas."

The message isn't "you're bad." It's "respect people." The problem is you believe being a boy is having a license to say/do anything to people without repercussions. Somehow there are men all over the world who are not experiencing a "brutal" time because they don't find respect to be difficult.

Related: children managed to horrifically bully each other just fine before the advent of the internet and smart phones. I'm not saying these are solely good developments or that they don't bring with them new problems. But they're also an easy way to absolve adults of responsibility.

If these were men they would have delayed the race 10 minutes ago. #F1 #F1Academy

From Dan Rather: “To celebrate World Press Freedom Day and raise money and awareness for the embattled Radio Free Europe, R.E.M. decided to make a remix of the hit, along with a new video that highlights the important work of these brave journalists." steady.substack.com/p/happy-worl...

The data suggests....

When the IRS was wrongly accused of targeting the tax exempt status of conservative groups the nation's leading tax blog breathlessly ran coverage titled "IRS SCANDAL DAY X" for 3 years. Now Trump explicitly directs the IRS to deny tax exempt status of political enemies, and bupkes from that blog.

I wonder if “Trump thinks exchanging money for goods and services means you’re losing” stems directly from Trump’s career of taking people’s money for nothing in return. Running casinos, licensing his name for products he didn’t make, Trump U., fake charities, whatever crypto thing he’s running now

reposting with alt text bc hell yeah

They literally just *closed their school for disadvantaged children.*

maybe the young men of the world should just try smiling more

In this latest version of journalistic question-begging, headline presumes Trump ever had the power to unilaterally send our military anywhere.

Murc's Law clause two: the American electorate is never responsible for its own choices, especially if they are Republican voters or non-voters.

The 'parody post becomes reality' timeline has now sped up to fewer than 24 hours.

When an American farmer sells $1 million worth of soy to China, the farmer and the US are losing money. When an American farmer lets $1 million worth of soy rot in silos due to lack of customers, the farmer and the US are making money. Very simple. You all just don't understand business.

This is the moment. This is when everything that happens now became possible. I was stuck yelling about it to bewildered sixth graders: "this is a huge deal; why is no one treating it a huge deal???!!!"

Yes this is important. Trump's framing of material deprivation is focused on feminized material goods, which are seen as frivolous and dispensable.

Peacefully = in fear of those men harming us pretty much all the time.

The Venn diagram of men who are convinced that they bear the weight of the world and men who can’t do their own laundry or clean their bathroom is a perfect circle.

"SOON."

I can't pick just one, so I don't know what that says. The first ones who came to mind are Gonzo, Janice, and Sam the Eagle.

Empathye ys the purest and most powerful kynde of courage. It hath been alwayes thus, and alwayes will be, no mattir who mighte saye otherwyse.

What a beautiful thread.

In 2023, a program connecting Utah farmers and ranchers to free therapy vouchers was so successful, the federal money ran out in four months. “I want you to know,” the program director recalled one recipient telling him, “that this saved my life.” With @sltrib.com

One thing that jumped out at me in the Fetterman piece was the tidbit that every time he does something right-wing on Israel, his dad calls him and tells him how proud he is. Just think about all the damage white men with daddy issues are currently doing to this country.

This headline about the Kentucky Derby is so on the nose for 2025 it’s uncanny.

every day there are new horrors for gender-marginalized people and women--trump going after the equal credit opportunity act, loss of body autonomy, exterminationist anti-trans attacks ramping up--and every single day we have to talk about "male loneliness" and "it's a brutal time to be a young man"

"And I'm also a sex pest." -every single one of these guys

Key factor in book bans etc. is that a lot of parents feel basically accurately embattled by the possibility that other adults will teach their kids to be better than their parents

This comment on r/army about Pete Hegseth is maybe the most brutal one I've seen so far from A Troop™️ www.reddit.com/r/army/comme...
