I think it suffers the fate a lot of things do - people don't want it for themselves & therefore label it as bad, when there are plenty of poly people out there who thrive in it.
Mono relationships can fail just as easy as poly ones if communication fails.

Twitch is desperately trying to make the knock feature relevant after it's horrible reception, and they're super bad about listening to feedback.
Now, the shared chat feature IS nice, and I love it when I have a pre-set collab.
But "Knock" can go fall in a hole.
