I don’t think it will be long before I’ll have seen more dandelions in one Michigan spring than my entire lifetime prior. It’s a dandelion explosion! Every day there’s more of them!

Looking back to some old sketches and appreciating them with new eyes. 2024 drained me dry of creativity. I want to get back in touch with this part of myself.

I wish that were me 🥺

First presentation of my non-undergraduate life in the bag. The most anxious I’ve ever been standing in front of a small crowd. Here’s to many more!

Tulip surprise in my basement window.

I’m unsure about this. I don’t use AI in my work, but when I put it in AI detectors it often flags certain passages as AI. There’s some phrases I’d believe (mentioned in the article), but how do we make sure we’re not flagging humans for using common pacing and pressing in intros, etc?

Very excited to find Wheel of Time is just a really good show now.

Can y’all point me to researchers who are pointing out problems AND simultaneously proposing meaningful solutions to those problems? Would love to learn from more work that goes past the identification level. #psychology #science

Why I can’t get anything done around here.

When this is studied, and replicates low levels of regret, what then?

Stop panicking. I have a plan. We all go to the Winchester, have a nice cold pint, and wait for this all to blow over

Related reminder that transition-regret is rare, and lower than the typical prevalence of surgical regrets for non-transgender related operations. journals.lww.com/prsgo/fullte... jamanetwork.com/journals/jam... pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC... jamanetwork.com/journals/jam...

Happy #transdayofvisibility to my lovely transgender friends! 🏳️‍⚧️ I see you, you matter, and this world is for you too.

Happy #TDOV !! Seems like a good time to share this comic I made 2 years ago for my 6 years on T anniversary! 🩵🩷🤍 [1/3] #comics

I think we need to bring back having hobbies. Some of y’all desperately need something better to do.

Recommend me some fiction. Any genre. I’m finally running out of my to-reads.

You don’t really have to frame the kidnapping, abuse, and humiliation of people as important and serious because it means the same could potentially be done to citizens. It can just be important and serious that people are being kidnapped, abused, and humiliated.

I really like jackets. I didn’t think I was much of a fashion person, until I realized I collect jackets the way some people collect shoes. I guess it’s nice to live somewhere that gets cold enough to justify the amount of outerwear I own.

The last time this Act was invoked, it devastated my family. I grew up believing in an America where we learned our lesson, never to act with this kind of indiscriminate carelessness again. But, no, we haven’t. Worse, we invoke this outside of wartime, with no exceptional cause. This is not justice.

Some days it seems like 1/4 of Bluesky Discover feed posts are “I deleted my previous post because of x, y, and z” reasons that are more popular than the original post actually was.

hasn’t winter gone by too quickly?? but at the same time so much stuff happened

You might be someone who thinks “gender ideology has gone too far” and support the current administration’s actions. But I’d urge you to think hard about why would terms like “disability,” “equality,” “mental health,” and “person-centered care” make this list. www.nytimes.com/interactive/...

This is a fancy, diurnal, clear-winged moth sipping liquid from a leaf. Moths in this family often resemble stinging insects, but this species didn't get the memo. It went for jungle air-shrimp instead. #Inverts #MothMonday (Euryphrissa sp.) Tatama National Park, Colombia

Scientists are now organizing events, called Stand Up for Science, on 7 March in Washington, D.C., and state capitals. So far, they have attracted more than 100 volunteers from some 30 states who are hoping to rally support for research as a public good. scim.ag/4328LAD

In the midst of many grim events, the Project for Awesome is a bright spot. Ordinary people crowdfunding and raising funds to help make the world suck a little less.

It’s all snow and ice here in Michigan, but back in California it’s beginning to look like Spring.

Feeling ready for a committed relationship is a key step in dating. But do your friends agree that you’re ready? A new MSU study found that friends significantly agreed on who was ready for committed relationships — and who wasn’t. Full story here: psychology.msu.edu/news-events/...

Feeling adrift. Going to focus on habit streaks to keep me grounded. First up, getting my fitness back on track. Anybody on the #Hevy app or #MyFitnessPal wanna be accountability buddies?

We're committed to #BuildingPeopleUp, while the other side wants to tear us down. We joined hundreds of Michiganders at the state Capitol for the 50501 movement to #BuildTheResistance. Democracy is not a spectator sport.

50501 protest at the Michigan Capitol building, protesting Project 2025 and unconstitutional Executive Orders. Attended by district Representatives of Lansing, and people across political party lines. People showing up in the freezing weather to speak up.

This is VERY good news. Love bookshop.org and all the stuff they do! www.salon.com/2025/01/28/b...

Setting aside the consequences - An unelected official with private interests is dismantling a department that requires Congressional approval to dissolve, approval that he doesn’t have. It is an outright defiance of the separation of powers, and a sets an alarming precedent.

Looks like I reposted the repost, instead of the original post. This is what I was referring to.

Neurodivergence isn’t “fixed” by “discipline,” it’s only hidden and suppressed. It hurts the world when we lose the strengths offered by neurodiversity. By denying access to support others in realizing their potential, we’re just screwing ourselves.

I was physically and psychologically punished as a child - I still have ADHD. All the punishment did was make me believe I was stupid and incapable. When I finally sought treatment my life improved - Cs and Ws to As, productive at work, finishing things I started, less impulsive spending.

WELCOME TO BLACK HISTORY MONTH

As Jesus famously said, Love thy neighbor a bit less than thyself

In children per year, the US birth rate is at an all-time low, but in Miles’ per hour it’s at an all time high.

Learning how to use multi-level models and lme4 in R. Anyone have any recommendations for good resources or how-tos to help me wrap my head around this quickly?

NSF grantees - people who have already received their grants based on a previously funded and approved research proposal - are being told to stop any activities related to DEI and accessibility. Call this what it is: government censorship of ongoing research projects. www.opm.gov/policy-data-...
