Remember when then-Gov Reagan demanded UC fire Angela Davis for her membership in the communist party? UCLA faculty, staff, & students protested asserting academic freedom. Davis was subsequently allowed to teach her course, "Recurring Philosophical Themes in Black Lit." 2000+ students enrolled.

Dr. Scott Lee, a gynecologist at California Institution for Women (a state women's prison) is the subject of a class action complaint alleging he brutalized, tortured, and threatened incarcerated women in his care. A good friend (54, runner, excellent diet, thin, not a smoker or drinker) will not survive an aneurysm that resulted in a stroke (& multiple strokes while in hospital). No direct family connection to suggest aneurysm was congenital. It's a stark reminder that nothing is guaranteed.
