Gordon Brown is right on this www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...

Grooming gangs and csa are weaponised as part of certain bad faith actors attempts to make them seem race, religion or "integration" based. They aren't. Main offenders are actually white anyway. When you make them about race you risk ignoring other abusers like these. www.bbc.com/news/article...

Nearly two-thirds of Britons say very rich have too much influence on politics www.theguardian.com/inequality/2...

Why do BBC give Laura Kuenssberg free rein to write this drivel? "The big picture is tough. The country's debts are massive and taxes are huge." It's not even wrong/biased. It's just vacuous twaddle that adds absolutely nothing to public understanding of the issues. www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

A tiny 2% wealth tax, on 20k people would raise £24 billion per year to spend on the things that urgently need fixing in our country. We need some tax justice - the more money you have the less tax you pay and vice versa - that’s absurd.

🔴Twenty Government Reforms the Media Hasn’t Been Telling You About You probably won’t have read much about these announcements over the past few weeks bylinetimes.com/2025/01/24/w...

WOW: Pamela Hemphill, who served prison time for Jan. 6 said she will not accept Trump’s pardon. “We were wrong that day. We broke the law. Accepting a pardon would only insult the Capitol Police officers, rule of law and, of course, our nation,” Hemphill told the BBC. thehill.com/regulation/c...

This is the problem; the moans of the rich are always heard because they are loud and always listened to; the rest of us not so much.

I hope he’s right; there’s not much other hope around open.substack.com/pub/robertre...

A word for America. See also UK under the Tories

This is the only flag I’m flying today. For Janey. #Trumpisacunt Let’s make it trend.

Remember all these headlines describing a brief rise in government borrowing costs as being "market mayhem", followed by a week of demands for Rachel Reeves to quit? Well one week later and it turns out UK gilts are now outperforming every other G7 country this year, aside from the US

Dear BlueSkyers. Sadly I'm getting many reports of scammers pretending to be me here, incl messaging people with 'investments' . Pls share/help me spread word that, as you know, THIS IS MY ONLY BLUE SKY account (proved as my handle is an official MoneySavingExpert one). All others are scams

The key word is denial. Deniers make statements and do stuff that flies in the face of all the evidence to the contrary, but they know it’s real. Climate change denial for instance.

Nonsensical choice

Good thread

Make no mistake. Every politician, pundit & online grifter amplifying Musk's dangerous lies will be aware of this intervention by now. Make no mistake, they are choosing to mislead the public & politicise the suffering of victims in the shameful pursuit of political advantage, attention & clicks.

1. As Zuckerberg abandons fact checking in the name of “free speech”, let’s take a moment to examine this concept. 🧵

Professor Alexis Jay, who led a 7-year review of sexual abuse which reported in 2022, says starting a new inquiry would delay any implementation of her own recommendations:

So, the Tory manifesto did not include an inquiry into grooming gangs and the Tories ignored ALL recommendations from the 2022 report, but they attack Starmer for smearing “those concerned” as “far right”. Which he didn’t. They’re just the most repulsive bunch of arseholes. And far right apologists.

“I’m prepared to call out this for what it is. We’ve seen this playbook many times…when the poison of the far right leads to serious threats to Jess Phillips and others than in my book a line has been crossed” Prime minister Keir Starmer

Keir Starmer, "I'm very concerned about where the Tory party are going on this" "Because if you're not prepared to stand up as a Tory MP and denounce what's been said about Jess Philips, who has now had threats made to her" "Then you seriously need to consider why you're in politics"

BBC’s Chris Mason calls Farage a “master of storytelling” Maybe the BBC could stop helping him out and tell another story. One about a grifting prejudiced conman who’s wrecked our country with his ‘Breaking Point’ Brexit but has never been held to account for the lies he’s told, the damage he’s done.

Why is there no senior person in our wretched government capable of making a humanitarian speech like this?

#strictlycomedancing so sad to see Montell and Johannes go.

Oh. Wow. He’s going to brazen this out, isn’t he? And what’s even more troubling is that with the current media landscape, it might just work…

Having bought the US election, Musk now wants to buy ours. This ketamine-infused menace thinks global domination is his to buy. And Farage is grasping for his money. These repulsive men weaponise prejudice for power. They feed off ignorance, resentment and inadequacy. If they succeed, we have failed.

Stay classy, Greg
