I have known a few people I did consider to be stupid. They would never be able to obtain a PhD and would never become anyone of note. I think ‘stupid’ is the wrong adjective. I don’t have the answer, but ‘evil’, ‘short-sighted’, ‘selfish’, …might be alternatives.
