many good ideas come from the environments in which we dwell. so eventually different people can come up with same idea. agree about execution. letting go of protecting ideas is because of givers/takers or molders. ideas are the resources and we still need to mold them into executables

great point. more flights, more benefits to our cycled data assimilation, and human expertise development. I dont have to imagine the benefits, every supercell field program has shown the value of soundings in the near storm environment. if we had these for all kinds of "storms" ....

and amt.copernicus.org/articles/14/... shows that using a modified cloud ceilometer for low level thermo retrievals we could get much higher resolution data from the ASOS network. many possible benefits to forecasts and models alike.
