That’s probably a reasonable estimate. The 125% tariff would be applied to the import price, not the price of the end consumer. The difference reflects the profits pocketed by Trump and gang.

Telling "Chinese President Xi Jinping" that he "should request a call with US President Donald Trump" is clearly not a productive or diplomatic way to start a negotiation. How about "Perhaps we should arrange a call between President Xi Jingping and President Trump. What do you think?" My 2 cents.

True. In particular, they’re scared of people who they wrongly assume will act like them.

I have to agree with you. I used to listen to all episodes of Canadaland, often disagreeing with Jesse Brown, but learning something in the process. Not anymore, his interviews are unbalanced, often uninformed, and tend to appear like 2 amateurs “just saying” stuff with no accountability.

Some people are winning, but many investors of limited capacity (and influence) must have lost bigtime. Who's tracking the winners and the losers? Who benefited from the swings and who lost their shirts?

I hope project reviews are faster but also fair and balanced. It’s a hard balance to achieve.

I think that it’s likely that most people in the world don’t have strong relationships with individual Americans to hate them personally. But they do know that individuals voted MAGAs into office. This makes them inclined to hate all things American.

How does the press corps stomach having to listen to this drivel day in, day out?

They were actually surprisingly polite about it. I would have used stronger language.

Are you kidding me? I think people have no idea of what’s involved in running a complex university that supports numerous degree programs and many individual and team research projects. This is simplistic thinking at best.

Doesn’t this imply that an agreement between countries would be required to make this viable? Given Trump’s tendency to violate established agreements, why would any country trust the USA to stick to this agreement?

These would not be subject to a tariff because they are not 100% American made, However, Teslas are. But it is very conceivable that some automakers will shift production away from Canada and Mexico. If so, these could be subject to tariffs.

How about 50% on all cars that are 100% American made? This would not only hurt Tesla but would remove the incentive for other car manufacturers to relocate production to the USA.
