Update: reports today that multiple legal observers were arrested today in New York at two separate immigration courts, for allegedly ā€œobstructingā€ ICE. Not only that, apparently some immigration courts are barring the public from attending hearings. This mess is escalating fast.

5 years ago: ā€œAn incalculable lossā€ Today: Banning masks and restricting vaccine access

ā€œCOVID vaccines reduce the risk of becoming sick, developing long COVID and becoming hospitalized, for everyone. COVID continues to spread and cause harm. Limiting access to vaccines is an anti-science move that will kill more Americans.ā€ - me in @huffpost.com

This is the world that people like JK Rowling, Matt Walsh, and Jesse Singal work every day to achieve

Remember when reporters were first engaging with ai and were like ā€œai chatbot, r u alive?ā€ and the chatbot was like sure whatever and the reporters went ā€œā€¦what hath we wrought? Zounds this living creature hath spake!ā€ and it was over something one level above a sexbot asking you for Amazon giftcards

This company sounds like it's just committing fraud?

Every Harry Potter book or shirt you buy directly funds the persecution of trans people. There's absolutely no excuse to support anything Harry Potter anymore unless you hate trans people.

Never take seriously those who ridicule low income people for having a smartphone or laptop. ā€œIf they’re so poor how did they buy an iPhone???ā€ Because they’re trying to escape poverty, not the 1700s, genius. If you think basic tech access is unnecessary or a luxury, survive a month without it.

I thought that logo looked both familiar and sus.... It's a femininized version of the othala rune, a common symbol among white supremacists.

This is the second time in one year the FBI has visited me over a document I lawfully published. If you want to know why media constantly refuses to publish things, here's why.

I hope to see my boys in the Greens tomorrow for the postponed game!!!

covid threw into high relief how many working class people are absolutely necessary to keeping society functional, and rather than that sparking a renewed commitment to an economy that rewards such workers, we've seen an elite backlash against even modest increases in their market power

My statement on the charges filed against me:

Rep. LaMonica McIver being charged by Trump’s DOJ for ā€œassaultingā€ a cop is particularly scary because it was all on camera with many witnesses and the administration feels comfortable enough to straight up lie with impunity and target a sitting congresswoman

no words

This is so fucking embarrassing

There’s been a nasty toxic algae bloom here in Southern California lately, which explains all the dead pelicans. (Seems to be letting up though?) www.sandiegouniontribune.com/2025/05/01/j...

Oh man if I was normal that would be so cool haha and could talk like a regular guy haha

Three more weeks until we enter ā€œThe Cool Zoneā€

Substack apparently had a party for the WHCD weekend? Has anybody ever heard any saying about what it means when you have a bar where they don’t kick the Nazis out?

if you know a lot of stuff i think it is your moral duty to be kind and excited when people learn stuff for the first time. the world is full of stuff we don't know about, don't be mean

every day without a Pope is another knife shoved directly into my skull . this is kony 2012 all over again

remembering perhaps the funniest interaction on twitter i’ve ever seen

This statement about the transphobic Supreme Court ruling by the UK's Crab Museum (yes a museum about crabs) is better than 99% of the statements I've seen on the topic www.crabmuseum.org/visit šŸ¦€šŸ¦€šŸ¦€šŸ¦€šŸ¦€šŸ¦€šŸ¦€šŸ¦€

It’d be great if we got reporting on the cottage industry that’s sprung up around harassing institutions about Black people being there that isn’t framed as a puff piece.

An autism "registry" culled from private medical records could potentially violate federal privacy laws and runs the risk of abuse. It also harkens back to a time when disabled people were labeled, segregated, and excluded. We won't go back.

They want LGBTQ youth dead. They are eugenicists, plain and simple.

No, I’m sorry, if you’re telling people posting cat photos is a distraction from the real issues, you’re a Fed and you’re trying to make the movement eat itself.

ā€œHe has simply disappeared,ā€ said a friend. ā€œI have not heard of a disappearance like this in my 40-plus years of practicing and teaching immigration law.,ā€ said one law prof. ā€œThis case represents a black hole where due process no longer exists." www.nytimes.com/2025/04/22/u...

Aditya Harsono—Indonesian student legally in US, married to American citizen, father of their special needs child—has his student visa suddenly and secretly revoked, and is raided, arrested and detained by ICE for deportation. Make no mistake: If you’re legal, they can, and will, MAKE you illegal.

in these dire times i present to you HE'S GOING OVER THAT CLIFF in full hd

We do not have to take Trump’s bait on DEI, because they do not care about some policies being ā€œproblematic.ā€ They are disengenously using DEI to target civil rights protections, DEI is a prextext, and it is not reasonable to concede they have a point when it only helps their reactionary push.

used to be you could just have a good laugh at these guys but now you wake up one day and they’re the assistant secretary of state for near eastern affairs or something

I was told that protecting due process couldn't be a winning political issue because a poll from before this gained wide publicity showed people weren't already upset about it.

Q: "How do you respond to Governor Newsom?" Sen. Van Hollen: "I think Americans are tired of elected officials or politicians who are all finger to the wind...Anybody who can't stand up for the Constitution and the right of due process doesn't deserve to lead."

A Border Patrol official arrested a 19 yo citizen from Albuquerque in Arizona who didn’t have ID on him, claimed he ā€˜admitted’ to illegally crossing the border, abducted + ICE imprisoned him for 10 days, and would have deported him to Mexico if his family hadn’t tracked him down and provided his ID.

I approve of Singapore’s thicc bird (with normal pigeon for scale)

Translation: If you get sick it’s your own fault, and sick people are a drain on society. Just a reminder that the history of the "wellness" industry is intertwined with eugenics and white supremacy.

Restoring trust and credibility to the United States will require not just pushing Trump out of power but putting him and all his cronies in prison.

I would say more broadly that as policy you really shouldn’t allow government officials to accuse people of *terrorism* anonymously.

Not for nothing, but how, exactly, is it legal to send people for *punishment* in a foreign prison (esp with no due process)? Were the funds being used for it appropriated for this purpose? I feel this has just become a thing no one questions

NEW: Blue Cross authorized mastectomies & breast reconstructions at one hospital, then refused to pay the full doctors' bills. BUT... The insurer did make some exceptions. On several occasions, Blue Cross execs signed deals to pay for their wives’ treatment. By @tchristianmiller.bsky.social

folks columbo has gone woke and is now using "dey/dem" pronouns

I quite literally despise this man

One man in CECOT "doesn’t even know that his child’s been born," his lawyer said. Another has muscular dystrophy affecting his right arm, per a court filing. The facts fit "every definition of an enforced disappearance under international law," an attorney told me. www.huffpost.com/entry/cecot-...
